Has anyone tried Nioxin?
Thanks for any advice!

I have used Nioxin for several years prior to being dx
last summer. I used it because my hair right in front was thinning. It did a good job. I used the shampoo and conditioner but only used the Folicle Booster in the area that was thinning. Are you going to use it on your whole head?
But now my hairdresser has me using a product called Enjoy. It's a shampoo, conditioner and "stimulator". The stimulator is a foam that is used after you are out of the shower and towel dried. I have been using it for about a month on the top of my head where the hair is slow coming in. It seems to be doing ok and I have lots of new growth. My hairdresser started using it on customers last summer but I didn't bother cause I was going to be getting chemo.
Enjoy is a little cheaper than Nioxin. Are you going to use it all over your head or just in bare spots? When was you last chemo?
Keep me posted on how it works for you. I still have Nioxin from last year, I could always switch back.

I use Nutri Ox. It's like Nioxin, I bought it at Sally's. I don't think it cost's as much as Nioxin. I have used the conditiner from the beginning of hair growth. I started the shampoo when there was enough to wash. My hair came in thicker than I had before I lost it.It is straight, no curl yet, I have about 2 or more inches. Stuff, does not smell really good. Kinda like medicine, but it does not stay in your hair. Oh, one more thing I used the conditioner every night. Let us know how it goes.0 -
Diane, I bought the Nioxin
Diane, I bought the Nioxin scalp treatment kit when my hair first started growing again. (I was giddy with new-hair growth, and splurged.) Honestly, it smelled badly, and made my scalp itch. My hair stylist suggested I take Biotin supplements; she has been a hairdresser for many years and says it helps hair growth. I keep forgetting to ask my onc. about taking it.0 -

I have read about Biotin Moopy for years. Like you said though, always ask your oncologist about anything new that you ingest.
Good luck to all of you!0 -
nioxin
I have been using Nioxin products throughout my chemo - ever since most of my hair fell out 3 months ago. My hairdresser recommended and told me to use even if I had no hair. I did not lose all my hair, but it is pretty sparse. However, the hair that I have has grown from about 1 mm long (from when we first shaved it off) to about 1/2 inch long during my chemo treatments. I am on taxotere, carboplatin, and hercepterin. I was told these drugs often do not cause total hair loss - so am not sure if the hair growth is due to nioxin, or the fact that my hair would have grown anyway. One more treatment to go, then I anticipate having a luxurious mane of hair again0 -

I have one more chemo to go, taxotere/cytoxin in 2 weeks. I'll probably try the nioxin, because I really miss my hair, just like everyone else and it's not like I have anything to lose. I'm just not appreciating the "Curly from the 3 Stooges look" anymore. It can smell like horse manure and I'll try it. I'll let you all know how it goes.0 -

... however, I am sticking with 5000 mg. of biotin taken orally after a meal. I have also purchased biotin shampoo -- very difficult to locate here in southern california .. 1 8 oz bottle of shampoo cost $18.00 when you can locate.
I was turned on to the biotin by another breast cancer patient who has been taking the pills for 3 years ... My oncologist stated that biotin was ok for me to take .. Please check with your doctor.
If there is something else out there .. PLEASE let us know.
