Recent CT scan

Like alot of people here I too had a CT scan last week. Fiest one since starting Iriontecan and Vectibix in April. I was really worried that the chemo wasn't working as I have felt pretty good since starting this chemo. I had the scan friday afternoon and wasn't scheduled to see my oncologist until wednesday, so I just put it out of my mind and figured I'd wait for the results then. My phone rang about 7 o'clock friday night, it was my oncologist, she was so excited about how good the scan was she wanted to call and give me the good news. The tumors in my liver have shrunk to half the size they were and my CEA dropped dramatically. Needless to say I was very happy to get that news, but it was short lived. My father passed away sunday morning after batteling heart disease for the last 20 years. We knew it would happen soon as the drs said there was nothing more they could do as his heart was just to weak. I did get to spend all of saturday with him even if he wasn't aware I was there. I got to say my good byes and tell him how much I loved him. I know he is at peace now. Blessings to you all.

    @Deb: sorry to hear that your dad died...I don't know really what else I can say to that...it's just...just really bad. But take it this way: he is up and watching you and happy that you are doing so well, and fighting so hard against the monster! Show him that you will not break and you will not give up! It's tough...I'm not saying it's easy, not at all. And yes, you are going to miss him for a looooooooooooooooooooooong while...but you'll live his life....you'll dream his dream!!!!

    I'm sorry to read about your dad. My condolences are with you and your family.

    Great news about the scan though. That must have sent you to the moon and back!!

    Hi Deb,

    My condolences to you on your father passing away. I'm very excited to hear you had such great results on your scan!! I guess you'd be a whole lot more depressed about your father's death if you also had received bad news on your scan- so at least that's not the case, and you're going to continue to get better and better!

    So sorry to hear that your father has passed. It is good you spent time with him before. I am sorry as I know that loss is tremendous.

    and I am so sorry about your Dad. My Dad has been on hospice for 2 yrs and like you, I know the time is coming. It is great that you could spent some time with him.

    CT Scan
    Thank you for all your kind words. I'm extremely happy about my scan results and hope this trend continues. I now have another advocate for me in heaven. I know my father was greeted by his parents and brother who passed before him. He is now at peace and with our heavenly father. Once again thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.
