They did a little med error, which I caught, with my last 100mL bag that they send home with my little friend, Peter pumper (My bottle pump). They put in a bit too much of 5-FU with the saline. I can't remember feeling this tired since early in my treatments. LOL
No mouth sores, a lot of diarrhea. Drinking OK, so no hospital visits for this chick.
I don't expect replies, just wanted to vent -- a little! LOL
Love and Hugs,
Holly

Overdoses are nasty
My first chemo a nurse posted my temp (97.5) as my wt in kg (=215 pounds) so I got my Folfox plus Avastin based on someone who weighed 85 pounds more than me!
After that, I got a list in writing from my dr of the exact amounts of every drug based on my correct ht and wt, and personally checked every bag of chemo.
Congrats on getting through. I quit after 7 of 12 planned cycles.0 -

but I sure am glad to hear that there isn't but 1 left....Holly, ya might have a little let down feeling after the last one is removed and ya walk out, kinda like you have been abandoned. I felt as if I was being attended to (and I was) and then it was like the rug was yanked out from under me when my last treatment came to an end. It passes soon though and the renewed life begins again....congratulations to you and yours for reaching that large milestone......Love to you and yours......Buzz0 -

Now I gotta think that is a good feeling. Do you know what the game plan is after you finish 12, scans, etc. Like Buzz said, you may feel a little let down, like your security blanket is missing. An acquaintance who just completed all her stuff for breast cancer (age 23) blogged she went through this. Broke down like a baby after the last radiation, later realized it was fear of the unknown. Long as she was in treatment she felt secure that she was beating it but when treatment ended other than the pills for 5 years, she got scared.
Peter Pumper...........ok I agree that would be just to easy to take off on.
Take care - Tina0 -
Congrats Holly! In 2 weeks
Congrats Holly! In 2 weeks it will be over, done with FOREVER!
Honestly, I told a newly dx'd (b/c) friend a few days ago that it's like it was a bad dream I had a long time ago.0 -

I go in every three months for my CEA and every month to get my port flushed. Scope in November. One scan in November unless my CEA rises. It was a low 1.7 this month. 2.8 last month. Not too bad, huh? They really don't do anything until it doubles, but even if it did double, it's still within normal limits.
I've thought about that "let down feeling" but I think I have a handle on it. I read an article in one of their cancer magazines at the onc office and it talked about that. Like Craig said, I'm ready to be over with the rodeo. I feel like I've been riding a bad bull for the last 6 months. One of the reasons I can't quite let go of my port (just yet)!
I really don't have a fear of recurrence. I know this sounds really weird, but I really think my dad is looking over me. Back in November of '09, I had this voice in my head that told me to get in and get screened NOW. Don't wait a month, don't wait a week. I called, was screened and that's, of course, how they found my cancer. A couple of months ago, this same voice whispers in my head that the cancer is gone. Nothing to worry about, but it's gone and over with. My onc's think I'm psycho. LOL I do ask if it's him, but I get no answer to that. LOL My one onc agrees with me though, he thinks it's gone, too.0 -

The weight isn't on the chemo bagHollyID said:85 lbs is a lot...

Chemo bag had my name and dob; the nurses don't know the doses for each of the chemos, so they matched me to the bag.
When I went for my second round, we were trying to figure out what happened when we realized that a wt of 97.5 actually corresponded to my temp.
My dr had seen the wt as written on the paper notes - it was correct there. The nurse input it into the computer incorrectly, and pharmacy is instructed to dose based on ht/wt. They couldn't see me, so had no idea that I didn't weigh 215.
Lots of errors in the process. However, the most important thing is in the long run, I wasn't harmed. Chemo was modified for my second round to exclude 2 drugs; thereafter, I had my "planned" chemo.0
