Hi everyone,

I am very excited + proud - my oldest daughter is graduating with her undergraduate degree on Wednesday. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon; it is a 3 hour drive and her graduation is early on Wednesday. We are staying overnight in an inn + this is the first night I have spent away from home (except for hospital) since I was diagnosed in March 2009. I am a little nervous about that; it is funny how comfortable I have been @ home since this diagnosis but this is a good way to "test the waters" by spending 1 night away. I just wanted to share my happy news.

Hi,

I am back from our one night away + I want to say thanks Pam, Mary, Donna, Kathi, Rick, Tina, Craig, Kathryn + Kim for all your kind words + encouragement. The four of us (my husband, the graduate, my younger daughter + I) had a wonderful time. We stayed at a lovely inn that we have stayed in several times before. After we arrived on Tuesday night we had a fantastic dinner at an Italian restaurant. We were on the 3rd floor of the inn (no elevator). This is a very old buiding + the stairs were very steep. I was up + down them a number of times + as luck would have it there were quite a few stairs in the building where the graduation was held. My husband says now that he knows I can handle all those stairs over + over he will push me to do more walking etc. That is probably what I need! Anyway, the ceremony was lovely, + it really is a proud moment when you attend a ceremony that celebrates the successes one of your children achieves. Thanks to all of you for sharing my pride + joy.

    Congradulations!
Congrats to you and your daughter! Just think of it as a little vacation, you can dirty up that motel room and not have to clean it up! Enjoy the ceremony!

    Awww...
...Have a good time Anne, sometimes it's just nice to get away, even for a night, though I have a hard time sleeping in other places besides my home at times, you and your daughter will have a good time being together, and hopefully, you'll be able to sleep as well, you need this, and will be glad you did. Congratulations to her and her excellent, proud mom, give her big hugs for me, and sending you super cyber hugs from here :)

    Hugsss!

    Trips
    Anne,
I made a trip to Disney when I had my ileo. A trip to OH and CO right after take down while wearing Depends. Life goes on! You will have the bumps you are going to have along the way. You might as well get a good trip in there to help even things out.

Have a great time at your daughter's graduation!

    Congrats -
I remember how proud George and I were watching our daughter get her college degree. Enjoy the moment and the whole experience. It seems like only yesterday when they were born and now they are truly adults. Where does the time go. Don't worry about being away from home, it will be good for you to get out and about, life goes on, cancer or not.

    Take care - Tina

Soak it all in - a one day day getaway sounds marvy right now - a change of scenery sounds fabulous.

Happy you can be there to see your daughter - another memory no one can take away from you:)

Congrats to your daughter and to you!

You just might find that you would enjoy a getaway once in a while, after doing this. I found that my trip to Mexico at the end of my chemo treatments was perfect for me. Being in a different environment was wonderful - I didn't have all the reminders of cancer and thought about it a lot less.

    Awesome
That is exciting news for your daughter. You will enjoy yourself so much when you allow yourself to do something out of the ordinary. Have a great time. Congratulations to daughter.
