Hi all! What do you guys know about alimta? I may be starting this as a maintenance along with Avastin.

    I took 2 doses of Cisplatin/Alimta for adjuvant therapy. I don't think I really had any problems with the Alimta. I did had a great deal of side effects from the Cisplatin. Alimta required me to take B12 injections prior to receiving the med. and folic acid daily. For me, Alimta was the easy med.

    I too had alimpta as one of my treatments. I had cisplatin and had horrible side effects so they changed me to another "platin", I honestly can't remember the name. Anyway, alimpta did give me a rash. I turned red all over, with little white bumps and it was very itchy. I also swelled up. The doc only suggested benadryl for the itching, which worked and I used alot of Aveeno products, the body wash and lotion. After the first bout of the rash, the second wasn't so bad. I got the rash, but no swelling and by the third and final time around, the rash only lasted one day and didn't itch at all. The rash only lasted 4 days at its worse.
    Keep Benadryl on hand and you should be ok. At least that was my experience.

    ALIMITA
    I HAVE TAKEN ALIMITA FOR OVER A YEAR. ONLY SIDE EFFECT WAS NAUSEAU AND TIREDNESS. THE NAUSEAU HAS BEEN CORRECTED WITH MEDCATION. LOST MIMINAL AMT OF HAIR, HARDLY NONE.
