Well I had chemo and another scan yesturday and my catscan showed I am stable, that is great but I am beginning to wonder if I will ever go into remission again?! My doctor is so busy I never really get to talk with him only the nurses so I emailed him in hopes of getting answers about future treatments and other things! I am so scared/frustrated but try to have hope that I can beat this again. I stayed in remission the first time for maybe 7 months and with this 2nd round it is wearing me down. I have problems with my eyes, mouth/gum irritation. I am using biotene products and had to have a treatment with antibiotics at the dentist recently and go back soon. Well have a good day ladies and thanks to those of you that are my friends on FB, keep in touch. If you write me I will answer asap.HUGS

    2nd time
I was also in remission about 6 months or so. This second time around has been much longer and much more tiresome.

I had more mouth problems this time too but peroxyl seems to work for me. But as yet have been able to go to the dentist! Been almost 3 years for me now! And I take zicam products for any cold, sore throat sypmtoms. Also my vitamins, calcium, B100 etc......

Circulation seems to be more of an issue for me and my blood pressure is higher. Yuk! Always was around 118/58, now usually 140/77 or so. My regular doctor told me as much stuff that shouldn't be in my body that has gone into it this past year, he is not surprised!

It IS frustrating! But I was reading the scriptures earlier today and read, "When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider:God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future." Ecc. 7:14

As I look at the application notes it said: God allows both good times and bad times to come to everyone. He blends them in our lives in such a way that we can't predict the future or count on human wisdom and power. We usually give ourselves the credit for the good times, then in bad times, we tend to blame God without thanking Him for the good that comes out of it. When life appears certain and controllable, don't let self-satisfaction or complacency make you too comfortable, or God may allow bad times to drive you back to him. When life seems uncertain and uncontrollable, don't despair - God IS in control and will bring good results out of your struggles.

I am thankful that He is in control and not me!!

Thanks for the update, stable is good news. I know how worn out yu must be feeling but hang in there, and for your mouth issues I recommend taking L-Lysine, I discovered after years of dealing with mouth sores and stuff, walmart carries it. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie

    Me too!!
Yeah, a lot of us seem to be in the same boat. The L-lysine works for me. I have not had any mouth sores.
Can't treat my cancer until I heal from this surgery on the bowel so I am getting anxious. Saundra

    Yes,
I understand the feeling. My body is getting more and more worn down. I am on 3rd line, and although the disease is steady, I am not getting a break. What chemo are you on?
I finished doxil/carbo a few weeks ago and am trying to get avastin for my next one.

I am currently on my 9th
I am currently on my 9th month of chemo (and feeling good still) having never gone into remission. My chemo nurse says I never will. Was that right of her to say that? The doctor hasn't said that and I'm afraid to ask since ignorance is bliss. :-)

I wish all of my fellow warrior princesses good luck. We can beat this beast!!!

    Much love to you all,
    Kate

    Hi Nancy,
    I'm on Avastin and

    Hi Nancy,
I'm on Avastin and some kind of taxol but I'm not sure what it's called. I want to say ceretaxol but I can't find it on the internet at all so obviously that's not correct. I keep forgetting the name. I don't know when my next scan is actually. Nobody has mentioned anything about it so maybe they think I don't need one.

I'm getting all my records together (what a chore) just in case I need to get into MD Anderson for a second opinion. I hope you are feeling good too. How is your fight going these days? I hope to God it's going well.

    Best,
    Kate

    Hi,
    Don't despair.

    Hi,

Don't despair. Sometimes it takes a bit of persistence and time to find the right
    chemo that can possibly work.

The longest I've ever been in remission was 1yr and 1month. After that everything was a fog and all touch and go until my doctor put me on the once-a-month taxol treatment. I am now in remission, however; I have three more weeks of this to go; so just take one day at a time.

It's hard but it's better to be diligent to get to a better result sometimes.

Hang in there but don't feel alone. I too have had problems with the eyes (right now; its my feet again - neuropathy) and OMG my gums took a serious beating when I was on the doxil/carbo/avastin.

Hang in there and stay strong!

    Me three!
Sundra--i just started the third part of my personal triathlon: first the taxol/crab, then complete debulking surgery, and finally after waiting to heal from the surgery--8 lomg weeks-- I felt anxious too. How long have you been waiting for the surgery? I hear bowel resections can take a while to heal. Is that what you had? My surgeon had me .listed as a possible candidate for that but changed her mind. I finally start the IP chemo--the third leg of my triathlon--tomorrow. The waiting seemed to take forever, but now it is here and its time to get rid of every last cancer cell in my body!!
Hang in there--your time will come too.
