Problems with Tearducts
The same thing happened to me last spring. I was still on Taxol and my eyes started tearing and were red and wet. I couldn't wear eye makeup either. I went to my opthamologist. At first he thought I had allergies so we tried eyedrops for that, but it didn't work. Then he tried antibiotic drops for an infection, which did nothing. He finally sent me to an eye specialist, who diagnosed the blocked tearducts. I had surgery to put stints in them in July. One tearduct was already permanently blocked, but they were able to put stints in the other three. They kept the stints in for three months and then removed them. My left eye was fine, but my right eye was still red and tearing. After alot of trials and errors with medications, etc., he put in more stints in my right eye only about two weeks ago. These will stay in for at least a year, and will hopefully help to keep the tearducts from blocking up. I have seen an improvement since the surgery, but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it will solve the problem. I finished my chemo treatment a year ago, and no the problem didn't go away after I finished. I don't think anyone can tell us what kind of problems we might deal with from the after effects of chemo. We're all different and I sometimes think we're all part of a grand experiment. I have a friend who had the dcr with jones tubes and it was successful. Good luck and let me know how things go. If these stints don't work, I might be having the same procedure. Connie0 -
