update
Went to the speech pathologist today who got mad at the ENT for not recognizing that I have an upper respiratory infection that has been adding to the secretions in the throat which makes swallowing more difficult than it needs to be. Other than that she's pretty happy that I'll be eating in a few weeks.
Sleep is still difficult so I'm tried a lot, but the energy is coming back which lets me do more like take the kids to school, oh and I'm going to go back to band practice in two weeks and I'm really excited about that.
Otherwise I graduate on Saturday, MA in Counseling, and am "psyched" by that. Looking forward to getting back to counseling work maybe by July? Hope so.
Thinking a lot about Mike and other less fortunate than me.
Best,
Mick

Congratulations on the upcoming graduation
Sorry to hear about the infection but it sounds like you are getting everything under control.
After all you have been through I am sure that you are "psyched" about Saturday ;-)
Good luck to you and keep up the good work.

I am very glad to hear you are doing well, to be going through all of this hell and still continue to go to school, what a fighter you are my friend.
Take care
After having been through what you've been through, I imagine this will lend a new dimension to your counseling. I suspect you'll be helping a whole lot of people.
Congratulations!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It has been a rough road, but I don't need to explain that to anyone here. Thanks for always being there and offering your support. It has meant a great deal to me.
Jim, you are dead on right about the dimension this experience has contributed to my education. I know know what it feels like to have had a deadly illness. I know now something of chronic pain. I know now something of great value: the wisdom of living in the moment.
Hopefully this can translate into some good work with people.
All the best.

Simply Well Done !
Well done to you.
You obviousely have huge strength of character.
At the risk of sounding trite- I couldnt help but think of two things Nelson Mandella said. :"things always seems impossible until it's done".
also he is known to have said that:"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."
You will sit in the "humble councilors chair" from a place of raw empathy and sincere patience.
Simply Well Done!0
