Hello,
This my first time coming here. I just want to ask if anyone here is a Stage4 Lung cancer survivor and what was your treatment. I ask this because my husband has just 2 days ago been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung cancer that has spread to his liver. He will begin his chemo on Monday, but we are also going to try to join a test group and we are going to the Cancer Treatment Center of America. I have read so many articles and things online from different groups that claim to know how to cure this type of cancer but they always have a secret that must be purchased for $39-50 for the information which seems like a trick to me where they take advantage of the suffering of other people. This has just been a very difficult time for us both and I just wanted to communicate with people who are really experiencing this type of pain.

Thank you for any responses.
Gloria

    Hi,Gloria
I am so sorry to her about your husband. My older sister, who is 47 yrs old has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung, bone(spine)(rib)liver. She went to her doctor I want to say may 10th-monday, just a week ago and after doing a ct scan then a pet scan thay told her she has 6 to 12 months to live if is don't take cemo and 6 to 3 yrs if she does cemo. We are all very shocked at what the doctor told her.She lives in Florida and her family (5 sisters) and dad live in Wisconsin. Mom died at age 47 from bone, breast cancer about 25 yrs ago. My sister had a biopsy done last thursday and the doc there said it looks like cancer but won't know anything more till monday 5/24
It is just horrible to even think this could happen and how to deal with something like this is beyond me. If you would like to email me,I can connect with you on facebook.
I will pray for your husband.
As far as paying for something, I really think it's a scam! Don't buy into it, as good as its sounds,

    Do Some Research Before....
Google Cancer Treatment Centers of America before you decide. See what others have to say about it rather than just going by what they print on their website. I think it is a good thing that you have found this discussion group, because there is so much good information here. You will see there are lots of stage 4 survivors! Make sure to look at the information section on this site as well for good, up-to-date info.

Thank you for your response. My husband is going for his first treatments tomorrow and seem to be in a very positive mood. since posting my information, I have talked to several people about what might be the best way to go. My husband wants to just go with his treatments at the Taussig Cancer Treatment Center at the Cleveland Clinic. We have been told that this is one of the best places for him to be. Besides I have not found anyone who can tell me about their experience at CTCA. I will keep in touch with all the great people I have met. Tank you again, and may God bless you.

    Hi Gloria,
    I am 41 years old

    Hi Gloria,

I am 41 years old and was dx in January with stage 4 nsclc. I have a 2.5cm tumor in my left lung, extensive lymph node involvement, large tumors in my liver and mediastinum. As for my treatment I am recieving Avastin, taxol and carboplatin every 3 weeks. No radiation due to it being so advanced so I imagine your husband may be the same. So far the meds for me have been working. I had a scan after my 2nd course of chemo and all the tumors were shrinking. I have completed my 6th round of chemo now and will have a scan next week. Im quite hopeful as I have no new problems or symtoms. Im sorry to hear about your husband and hope and pray that all goes well. Keep up with this site. There are a lot of people out there who have been dx with stage 4 that have made it for years! My sister also went through radiation, surgery and chemo for stage3 nsclc and has been in remission since 10/09.
