Touching base
We have one child still living with us who's finishing up community college and looking ahead, sort of. Our eldest graduated from University of Chicago and is busy with a career in Admission for them. Lives in a great apartment downtown Chicago.
I think back and remember that he was just going in as a freshman in college when Linda was first diagnosed.
No one knows what the outcome will be, or what life will hold...But we did the best we could through all that difficulty.
The recurrence was even tougher, if that seems possible. But he told her, "My mom is the strongest woman in the world."
And he's probably right. None of this was easy. And I'm out of work right now but God has watched over us and provided in so many ways. I hope he has a reasonable solution soon! But we're trusting the best we can.
That's life. A combination of faith and hope and doing the best you can.
Love to all.
Chris

THANK YOU, CHRIS
Thank you for your words of encouragement today. Yes, the Lord has blessed us all, each in different ways. I thank Him everyday for giving me another opportunity to be here, enjoy my family, including grandchildren, and hopefully be an inspiration to others by His Grace.
How wonderful that your children are building their futures, and that you and Linda are able to share in that endeavor! And I applaud Linda for being so proactive with her health, exercise being a very important part. May God continue to bless her with her remission. And may the Lord bless you as well for your faith and strength and love for your family. So nice hearing from you again!

Strange turn
Well, as strangeness would have it, just 10 minutes ago the gynecological oncologists office called to let me know that Linda's counts came in at 31 on the CA-125 today. We had a rise last year too so I'm hoping this is not a recurrence. But it is strange that I should post this last night and get this call now. Life's just weird.0 -

Well, Chris your post was meant to be so that we can all come together in prayer that this rise is just something else (an infection, stress, etc.). It can be anything. Just curious - I know with Linda exercising and all, does she take any supplements or eat an abundance of certain foods? Just a few thoughts on what I have learned in the last 10 years. Always learning, always tweaking my exercise and nutrition program. Found that certain things caused my CA125 to rise from time to time. Nothing set in stone, of course, just my personal experience.
Sending oodles of prayers!

I was only partially kidding when I told her it was the jalapeno guacamole she'd eaten the day before. And she has a hermia from all those surgeries. Poor girl's tummy looks like a map from Google Earth.
We had a similar rise last year when she was doing a lot of physical work in the garden; lifting pots and such...(yes, I help when I am there) so that may be a factor too.
It just hurt to watch her processing last night and talking about the feeling of dread that comes with these turns in events. You all know how it is.
I'm thinking of dragging her down to St. Louis where a friend of mine lives. His wife has been through breast cancer treatment and recurrence...after 12 years! So they have dealt with the unexpected.
