Nausea Questions - Need assistance
Since having the radiation to the thoratic spine she has had terrible nausea and is unable to eat. The doc said that it is most likely due to damage to the esophagus during radiation. Can last 2-6 weeks. (last treatment was April 19th)
She can physcially swallow, but I think there is a mental block due to the nausea issue. Nothing taste "right", we have tried numerous options.
If anyone knows of something to try I would much appreciate it!!
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the advise Bailey. I cannot remember for sure which nausea med she is currently on, they have switched, they tried the synthetic THC pills for a bit, not sure they gave them time to work prior to switching. I have a feeling though that she is waiting to feel nausea's before taking anything.
She did start chemo nearly 3 weeks ago, and they gave her alloxi with that drip. Do not think the chemo is bothering her, it is just the esophagus damage from spine radiation.
She does drink some Booster and Ensure, but not nearly enough (since that is her main nutrician!) We will try the macaroni, has always loved her pasta!0 -

My dad also had mets to the brain and they are currently doing radiation. He had EC surgery already and then the found the brain tumor met a couple weeks after that. So then he had emergency brain surgery. Honestly I don't know how he made it through both surgeries. But now the radiation is being used to kill any cells that may be floating around that side of his brain. So at this point he has no appetite. He still has his feeding tube and gets most of his nutrients from that. He eats on the weekends a little when he is having a break from radiation. They said that they will give him steroids if he doesn't start eating. Is your mom taking steroids?

anti nausea meds
Hi Hope,
Welcome. Glad mom is done with her radiation treatments. I agree, she should be taking the anti nausea meds daily. Once the nausea hits, it is too late. I would suggest the liquid nutrition for awhile until she gets the feeling to want to eat more solids. She can also try ginger to relieve the nausea. Drinking ginger ale, or taking ground ginger by capsule. Best of luck. Keep in touch.

natural nausea cures
Hi,
I found this website that had many different things to use for nausea and ordered some for my father.
He really likes the "quease/ease" that you smell and the BioBand for acupressure on the wrist.
Right now that is all he can use because he is on a nothing by mouth order after radiation but we also bought a ginger hard candy ,and a tea.
There are many other items there to chose from.
I Hope this helps! Lisa
