What will happen if a lung cancer patient got stroke?

Maybe
mj2304, I am sorry to hear about this patients condition, but when usually they say the are in rehabilitation that means they are starting to get improvements. Usually rehabilitation is when they see therapist to help them improve on their strength and to get back any movements or cognative things that the illness may have reduced.
when I suffered my stroke in 07, I wentt through rehab to help with my right side of my body that I lost most control over and to help rebuild some of the cognative problems that the stroke caused.
If you read my bio you will see I have a complicated Health status, but that doesnt mean I can keep going, or get better in some ways. It is a hard road to travel, but many have made this journey and are long time survivor. I was diagnosis with cancer in '08 and am still going. I suffer heart problems, injuries to the brain, neruopathy, and other health issues that most people never have in a lifetime, and I turn 50 on May 2. So cancer isnt the death sentense that we think, tho it is a hard road and we may never beat the disease we can extend our lifes. It takes positive attitudes and hope from all involved, the person with the disease needs support from everyone and it needs to be positive , even when things look hopeless. Remember that as long as there is Hope, all things are possible.

Happy b'day to us, it is a great day. Just keep the positive thoughts going and support will go along way. But this disease does not give up easy and the battle is a draining one, so you must keep thinking the positive and look to prayer and hope.

By the way,can i ask if its true that a cancer patient can go back to communicating well after 6 months to a year?I just have to really know, its getting hard everyday for me not really knowing what's happening with someone i love, and harder cause i know he's suffering, but i don't know and i don't suppose he can't even talk on the phone,i hope you can give me some light to this thank you again.I was thinking of at least hearing his voice, but dunno if that is possible.

Hello mj. My father is a newly diagnosed lung cancer patient. He has had two rounds of chemo, and he suffered a stroke this past Friday. It was caused by one of the chemo drugs he was given-carboplatin. His stroke was in his brain stem, and damage has been substantial-affecting right side of body as well as speaking and swallowing ability. He has moved from hospital to an acute care facility so he can get therapy for speech and swallowing as well as to regain his strength. hopefully he will be able to eat on his own again and go to rehabilitation. I feel like the only person in the word this is happening too, and was touched to read your post and find that there is someone else who is suffering and with so many unanswered questions. How is your loved one? have the doctors and therapists advised wether or treatment for his cancer can continue through stroke rehab?0

mj2304, anything is possible and I am living proof. if you read my bio you would have seen I fell 21 feet hitting my head three times on the way down landing half on the crement floor and half on a wood pallet. I lost the ability to balance (vastibular damage), lost some hearing, suffered significant damage to my lower (lumbar area) of my back, suffered brain damage. I went to a brain injury Hospital in Bakersfield, Ca that specialize in Brain injury rehab, I had to learn to walk and talk all over again. Tho, I did suffer some long term problems, I regained most of what I lost. Before I was studying to get my teaching license, I did Caiculus, but lost that after the fall. When I was near discharge they told me I would never walk without a cane or talk without a stutter or be able to ride anything needing balance. Well, after 2 yrs of rehab and faith,Positive attitude, I walked and talked normal enough and even found a way to compensate for my balance problems so I could ride again. I had to give up a lot of things to, like Scuba diving, parachuting, etc.., but I was back.
There is never a time to give up, there is always Hope Always a chance, you just have to keep the positive attitude alive.
After my stroke I had to work hard to swallow correctly again and talk so others could understand me, but I did it. My wife and I have just kept our chins up and the laughter flowing, we know that we will get through this. Sometimes things get so bad that everyone wants to give up, that is the time to push even harder, laugh, do silly things, remember that thier still alive, and help them keep positive.
I have out lived every prognosis that the Doctors have giiven me, and will continue until God calls me to duty there ( once a Marine always a Marine). But I plan on being here for a while yet, and I plan on laughing more than I cry.
Just try and keep the faith that things will get better, maybe not as fast as we would like, but they will cause it could always be worse..

Myoun009, I suffered a stroke in 07 then diagnosised with cacner o0, suffered mild TIA's since and they have been treating them along with my cancer. I also suffer from Chronic Heart Failure after my cancer diagnosis in 08, I had my 6th Major Heart attack that left me with 45% of my heart working. We tried to continue chemo, but due to my complicate health issues were unable. But, it is up to the Doctor, the severeness of the stroke, and what the patients overall health is in deciding if cancer treatment can or should be continued.
In my case, if you read my bio, you will see that all treatment has been halted because my illnesses proclude me from continuing them safely. I now operate on less than 30% of my heart . the Cancer has reach both bone and brain, and it has taken a severe toll on my cognative abilities. I am on Hospice and have been since Jan/Feb'09 when I was given 4-6 months. In '08 when Diagnosis with stage 4 lung cancer NSCLC in my right lung and lymphs, SCLC in my left, with chwmo they gave me 1 to 1 1/2 yrs, so I have out lived every prognosis given to me.
I am sure that given all the info the DOctors have they will take the less damaging yet hopeful course of action. Strokes take time to recover from and we dont always get everything back, but if his health is in good enough shaoe they can fight the cancer with little threat to his progress from the strike.
