FIRST WEEK OF RADIATION FOR DAD

hi, dad started his first week of radiation this past monday.. monday he had chemo for 3 hours and then followed by radiation... he did have two rounds of the induction chemo in the hospital before this... he is now on his 4th day of radiation, he will get chemo every 21 days.. he is completely wiped out! i feel so helpless, i keep telling myself, he will get through this, he will get through this!

i would like to say that each and every person who has ever had to go through this head and neck cancer treatment is truly a fighter and a hero! this has to be the toughest thing i have ever seen anyone go through... the doctors say that other than leukemia or anyother blood cancers, head and neck is one of the toughest treatments... hands down to all of you!! God bless you all for being fighters...

    I agree with you 100%. People going through this horror are so brave. My dad is truly the strongest man I've ever known. He can barely stand to be out of bed now. It's hard to see him suffer. But I'm so proud of him for fighting this fight. A strong support system is important in recovering -stay positive. My thoughts and prayers are with your dad.

    My best to you both, and I am sure it is not easy to be a caregiver. I am sure that both your dad's are happy that you are there to help them thru this ordeal. A great support system makes a huge difference in kicking cancer's butt. Thoughts and prayers to both of you, and especially to your fathers.

    Bravery? Well ...
    I never thought of myself as particularly brave. I was given a choice: Have surgery, take rads, take chemo and live. Do none of the above and die. For me that was an easy choice.
    Sure, the treatment is awfully rough, but hey, you do what you have to do.
    Thank God for the caregivers, though. They're the brave ones.
