Avastin
I've been diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2 years ago - and at this point I seem to be doing ok. After taking several types of chemo (changed due to allergic reaction) - I am now on Avastin.
Has anyone taken Avastin for more that 3 months? My CA125 had gone down to 23 and now it has gone up to 39. My doctor said not to worry. But I am. Has anyone gone thru this?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, Nancy
Yes, I was on Avastin for 6 months, and my CA climbed during the 1st 3 treatments. It was finally after the 4th treatment that my CA dropped substantially, and then into the 'normal' range after #5.
So hang in there. I think Avastin is great, but it does take time.

don't worry !
i am 19 and have had OC since i was 16, and have been on Avastain for about 9 cycles. my doctor told me that I should not go by the CA - 125 , but to go by what my scans say and what i am doing. she told me that because avastain attacks the cancer cells in a different way then most chemos, that sometimes the CA 125 isn't a good marker. if you are feeling well, and your scans are showing things in the clear, or staying stable. i wouldn't be worry. it's been about 9 cycles for me, my CA has jumped around, but i have never felt better.
i hope this helps and i wish you well xox0 -
