Hello all,
Well It has been 9 months since my last chemo, got the reversal and the port out. However this neuropathy SUCKS! I feel good otherwise, but I have noticed I do tire out easier than I did before Cancer.
I work for a non profit foundation and this past weekend we had 2 fundraising walks. I cannot believe how much this took a toll on me. I am so sore this morning and the neuropathy feet are hurting.
I have great co workers who make sure i am not over exerting myself but I just want to be normal again! I know, I know, you don't have to tell me! This is my new normal. I guess I just needed to whine and complain and this group here will make sure they give me a kick in the butt to quit doing it!
Pooped and tired in Cleveland!
Kathy

    It's OK to Whine
Just make sure you get some cheese and crackers to go with it...

Have some wine with that whine, won't help the neuropathy but it will help you relax and get some rest.. Cheese and crackers won't hurt either.

    Take care - Tina

    2 walks, and whining?
O.K. to whine Kathy, you did what most people would not do. Two walks in the same weekend! Most "normal" people would whine after one walk and they don't have neuropathy, actually most people would whine about even thinking about doing one walk! Now sit back, enjoy a glass of wine (our what ever your favorite beverage is) have some delicious cheese and crackers (or what ever your favorite snack is), pamper your self a bit and realize you have accomplished great things!

    Alpha Lipoic Acid
Have you tried Alpha Lipoic Acid to help reduce the neuropathy? I took 600mg a day after Folfox and it was tremendously better after two months and totally gone in 6.

    Ditto re Alpha Lipoic Acid
Tho my neuropathy isn't completely gone, but I'm MUCH better (and I didn't start the ALA until one year post-chemo.) I'm now up to 1200 mg/day (under dr's advice) to see if we can knock out more of the neuropathy.

I tired the Alpa Acid and it
I tired the Alpa Acid and it did not really do anything for me. My onc has me on vit b, b complex and D to see if this works. I start out feeling great at the start of the day and then BAM it hits. I know I worked alot over the weekend, more so than usual and I know that it tires me out, but it sure takes longer to recover now!

    congrats on TWO walks!
I'm a year out, still have the hand/feet problem, sore legs, and tire more easily. I did the survivors lap last year, two days after my last chemo - that was enough for me. The alpha acid did not work for me either. my neuropathy seemed to get better each month, got to a point, and the past few months I haven't seen any improvement. am chalking it up to the new normal, as much as I hate it. See my onc in 2 weeks, and I have TONS of questions...

Thanks! I wish I could say
Thanks! I wish I could say I walked the walks, but I had to work them. However I did more walking than the particpants, back and forth. We were sort of out of town so we stayedthere Saturday night and I can tell the differnce not being in my own bed. Working 12 hour days on the weekends suck!
I am hoping that the nueroathy levels it self out soon. I did not get it until about a month after chemo ended.

    neuropathy
ugh!!!! my oncologist suggested L-Glutamine and it worked wonders. you can find in most pharmacies where vitamins/suppliments are shelved. when mine was very bad ( feet and hands ) gloves and socks were a must. i also (if possible for you) notice great amounts of relief when using my sauna and or jacuzzi. hope this helps and your having a great day!!!
