All joking aside, it works better (for me) than any of the prescribed meds.
I know that I've had times where my nervousness has made me throw up.
Hope you get a handle on it.

are very conservative ( backwards..IMO ). If I got caught with pot here I would be risking jail time....probably puking my guts out behind bars.
Can/would you list the states where pot is legal for medicinal purposes?
I am into my 9th treatment. I've had very little nausea up until now but this time is the Mother load. If I had some pot I'd smoke it today and go to jail tonight;)

In California to smoke pot. Even for medicinal purposes. In my state it isn't, I get it through friends, and he's right, maryjane is really good for nausea. Works faster then the pills do. How would you go to jail right away if you smoked one?
I also take pre-meds before chemo. Emend, 3 dexamethasones, 2 compazines, and a shot of long-lasting Zofran that lasts 4 days in your system, then go home with the Emend, and take more dexamethasones, and compazines, I have prescriptions for all, and take those as well during chemo, but you must take them BEFORE getting sick...take them even when you don't feel sick just to stay on top of it, because once you get sick, and are puking, then take the pills, you're just going to puke it up, so just be on top of the meds. I have never thrown up from chemo, I can feel just a little queasy sometimes, which is rare, but that's when good ole mj comes in, and takes that feeling away.

Anzamet is what I get, too.geotina said:Tess
Are they giving you an IV of anti nausea before the actual infusion of chemo? George did not take Emend but he did have an IV of Anzamet before the actual chemo and he never had any nausea, in fact, had a pretty good appetite. I have not heard of a lot of people naming Anzamet for anti nausea but it worked great for George. Just a thought. Oh, almost forgot, George also found drinking ginger ale very soothing.
If the Emend is too expensive for you from a pharmacy, try Costco (I don't think you have to be a member to get a prescription filled). They are usually significantly cheaper than a pharmacy such as CVS. They will give you the cost over the phone, most places will.
Take care.

and I never have nausea. I also get Aloxi and it's done wonders. My sister sent me some ginger pills and I've not taken a one. I also got a script for zofran, which I filled, but haven't taken any. I thought of drinking ginger ale and didn't during my first chemo, but I never did. I hate feeling nauseated and most of all, I refuse to throw up. I'd rather chew glass than throw up.
I think I'd ask for emend from my onc.
Love and Hugs,

Well, just getting out there and trying to find someone who could sell it to me would probably raise a few red flags. With my luck I'd probably buy it from an undercover cop:) I don't think I have any friends who could give me any MJ ( although you never know).

You might be surprised who would have it. And check your local laws onhow much is a ticket and how much is jail time.
I have it for the neuropathy, when nothing else works.
PS buy it from a teenager, not an adult!0 -
I have a question for you.
I have a question for you. Have you gone to the bathroom..I mean poop. I got very sick after my surgery and could not keep anything down. It turned out I was not moving anything in my intestents. Have you talked to your onc? Is he/she aware of your problem. I have not gotten sick but have been nousous at times, my doctor gave me pills for that I take one 4 times a day and it really helps me.
I am sorry you are having so much trouble..My advice is talk to your onc not just the nurses. Hoping you feel beeter soon,

Fluids
Tesslee,
I did not have the time to read all the posts to your situation but I wanted to encourage you to keep up with the fluids. You should ask your doctor about getting IV fluids if you can not keep things down. If you get dehydrated things go from bad to worse. I had a terrible time with the nausea. Please believe me you can be sick with this stuff and don't let anyone tell you different!
I took Emend the first 3 days, took Ativan at night for 4-5 nights, and had other meds like phenergan at home just in case.
Also, I found the first treatment to be the worst, partly because I did not know what to expect and partly because I did not start the Ativan until the second treatment.
Hope the next treatment goes better
