Vaginal biopsy post treatment

Ladies,
I am going to have my 3 month check up tomorrow with my first pelvic exam since chemo and radiation and will have a routine vaginal wall biopsy. Since I have had radiation I am apprehensive about the amount of pain involved in biopsy procedure. Can any of you care to share what I might experience?
I am wondering if I should take some tylenol before the appointment.
Thanks for any advice or experiences.
Lori

Have you been using a dilator since your radiation?
If you've been using a dilator, you should have no problem or pain at all. Your internal exam should be just like before you ever had cancer, a little wierd but not at all painful. If you have any trouble with the biopsy, and don't have a dilator, please take this opportunity to ask for one so that scar tissue doesn't build up in the vagina. This is particularly important if you have had brachytherapy, but I'd use a dilator even if I just had external pelvic radiation. (((hugs))).

Thanks Linda for sharing your experience and advice. You are always so helpful and understanding!
I will sleep better tonight now that I have heard from you.
Yes, I do have and do use a dilator. So I should be OK with the scar tissue.
Hope I don't have to wait very long to get the results. Not sure if they will call me or mail results or both (probably both). So with that I am going to get to bed so I am ready to go in the morning. I will let you know once I get the results. Prayers for you too Linda...
