Hi, I am new here. I was diagn with EC the past march 23th. According to CT Scan, the size of the tumor is 6cm X 5cm large no metast. Biopsy done the past 19th, states mucuosa squalmus carcinoma in si-tu. Doctor at UCLA believes that my cancer is more advanced due to the size of the tumor, so he ordered PET Scan this Friday, and he also wants the biopsy re-tested at UCLA. I hope and pray to my poderoso Dios that there is not N affected. Doctor mentioned that I will have radiation and chemo prior to the surgery.

I have read some of your posts and I feel this is wonderful site. Hope you can provide me your advices and support. I cannot believe that this is happening to me. I am 31 years old.

    Hi Yovanna30
Welcome to this site. I can relate to how you are feeling. My hubby was diagnosed as a stage 3 last Aug 2009 at the age of 39. I'm glad to hear you are going to UCLA. That's where my husband had his surgery done. Are you seeing Dr. Maish by chance? Oh, maybe not because you said, "he". Well, I'm sure whoever it is, you are getting the best care at UCLA.
If you don't mind, what symptoms did you have? My hubby couldn't swallow food anymore and knew something was not right. They did a scope and found the cancer. Everything happened so fast, as I'm sure that is what's happening to you too right now. Which is good - the faster they get going on killing the cancer, the better.

If there's any questions you might have, please feel free to ask.
    God bless,
    Shelly

    Hi Shelly
I could not wait to see Dr. Maish by 05-28-10. You know too long to wait. I am seing Dr. Jay Lee. My problem started early last year. I felt that food got stucked on my troat, and I thought was acid reflux. Dr gave antibiotisc for H. Pylori since it came possitive on my stool test on June or Aug. AR persisted until I started vomiting all the food because the obstruction that caused the tumor. I can eat everything, I just need to bite small pcs and shew as much as I can. My acid reflux has gone like a month ago.

I heard the Dr Maish is very popular at UCLA.

    Thank you for your response.

God bless you and your husband.

    Hi Yovana!
If you'd like go to the main thread listing and check under "So here's my story..." for well my story with ec. My symptoms were a lot like yours and you can read about what you might have in store. Main thing is to stay positive an there are people here willing to answer your questions and offer support. I just found this site and with I had found it at the start of the whole thing. Like you I could not believe this was happening to me but you can get through it! Any questions, just ask.

    Peace,
    Dave

Hi, you've come to the right
Hi, you've come to the right place. There are a lot of caring and wonderful people here on CSN. You'll usually find someone that is going through similar situations or have been through it and can give you their story. Thirty-one is a very young age, that may be your advatage in your fight against EC. Sounds like you are in the right hands at UCLA. I will pray for good results from your PET scan on Friday. My advice to you is don't be affraid to ask questions here or with your doctor. If you don't understand something, ask, if you still don't understand, ask again. Never let them intimidate you, remember they work for you.

    Welcome
    Hi Yovana,
Welcome to the csn family! I was a caregiver to my dad Ray. He beat EC, but in December it methasized to his liver, he could not beat this. He was also 71. Your young age is to your advantage. You are much stronger than an older person. UCLA does have an excellent reputation. You are in a wonderful place. Remember...cancer does not choose a gender or an age, it just happens. Do ask alot of questions, do have a good support team, do stay positive, do have a strong faith. You are doing all the right things. Let us know how the pet scan goes. We are here for you, come to this site often.

    Sorry this is happening to
Sorry this is happening to you, my husband is 36 and was just diagnosed in February. He was also treated for Acid Reflux prior, then found out he also had H-Pylori from the oncologist. The gastroenterolist who did the scope never mentioned this when he got the pathology report, so no telling how long he had the infection. I think you will do well with treatments, my husband has had no side effects so far withe radiation and chemo only made him very fatigued but not sick at all. All the doctors keep saying he has his health and age on his side so he can handle the treatments better.

    Wishing the best for you

Hi there. I am new on this site but logged in to encourage you. My husband was diagnosed with this cancer in the fall. He was 38. He is now cancer free and eating everything he wants. I literally just found this site by accident and am so glad to have stumbled here! The doctors gave him a slim chance of survival but we did not let that get to us. We just knew he would live and kept that attitude!

We are happy that you did come to this site. It is always nice to add another to our family of survivors!! My dad was 70 when he got dx with ec. He had 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. He did great for 1 year. In December 09 he got mets to his liver. He went down hill fast....within 3 mos he passed away. March 9, 2010. So great that your husband beat the odds. Always remember...Cancer is a disease, not a life sentence. Stay in touch. Stories like yours are very inspiring. You can help a lot of people here.
