I had my first haircut since
I had my first haircut since July, my chemo ended in late September. It was only to take off dead ends, it's still very short and curly but I have been going hatless/wigless to do yard chores or getting the mail, normally not a big deal but it felt like it to me!0 -
Hey laurissa. I too am
Hey laurissa. I too am going without my scarves. At first I felt naked but am getting more used to it every day. Some days I am not as bold and wear a baseball cap. I haven't tried to dye my hair yet. I don't have the patience for the upkeep so I am going with the gray. Oh well. I don't know what to say about the brows and lashes. They fell out once but seem to be doing ok now. I will let you know if that changes. Good luck, Pitt0 -
Laurissa is your hair curly?
Laurissa is your hair curly? I hear that when it first comes back it is usually very curly. My eyebrows and eyelashes have fallen out a couple of times and now I have none of either. I sure hope they grow back permanently now that chemo is done. I'm so tired of my wig and really dont like how it looks anymore. I think I'm going to stick with scarfs now that it is getting hot.0 -
I did it about 2 weeks ago.
I did it about 2 weeks ago. I kept looking around to see if anyone was looking at me. Know one was. It felt good, but I wish I had bangs. I guess I should be glad I have hair. My eyelashes and brows are coming out again. I hope I don't lose hair on head.0 -
Wigless
Laurissa, I've pretty much ditched the wig; only wear my ballcap when my head feels cold. Two weeks ago I gave a short talk to a luncheon meeting - told them about the good things that have come out of having cancer, then while saying that in perspective I'd never have a bad hair day again, I pulled the wig off. Everybody's eyes got saucer-sized! Last week I attended a larger luncheon and went without wig. Most people didn't recognize me; others said the haircut was "edgy." Yesterday at church, the kids did double takes of my head/hairdo. I told them I'd gotten my summer "buzz." I'm sure they think I'm a little off of my rocker. I do end up wearing a lot of makeup and dangly earrings so I look like a girl! It feels great in the sunshine with a gentle breeze blowing - to just have that hair moving around on your head.
Blessings, Beth0 -

and I ditched the wig pretty soon after that because I had the hair coming back in already! It did grow very slowly though. My eyebrows, eyelashes, arm and leg hair are doing the opposite! Growing like weeds!!! I never lost all my arm/leg hair but it's letting me know that I lost more than I thought I did! I have to shave my legs every night!
Sheesh!!
In Florida it's too hot now to wear a wig. That was my #1 complaint. I wore caps instead and had the little fake hairs I attached to them.0 -
Soooo Happy For You
Cannot wait until my hair is long enough to go without some kind of cover.
Hugs
