G Tube Surgery Today

My father, who I stated earlier was diagnosed with Stage IVB cancer a month ago, had a G tube placement done today. They were going to do it endoscopically but found that the esophagus would not allow for the tube to go down to the stomach because the cancer has squeezed the walls closer. This has changed over three week period because he had a J tube placed three weeks ago and it was able to go to the stomach.
Things feel like they have been up and down lately. He had been able to eat soft items, like ice cream and an occassional chip or junk food. Now, we will face the nutrition of a feeding tube until the cancer is shrunk.
This is getting scarier day by day and honestly, I never know if I am coming or going.

Hang in there and have faith
Hang in there and have faith --- this is a rough road with lots of bumps and it does get scary at times. Cherish the times you have when your dad is feeling better and enjoy each other. Last week we had a real scare with my dad, but now he seems a little better still very week and in a week I am going to be with him to take him to his treatments. My uncle will be there this week, I will go next week and we will see what happens from there. Just know none of us knows what tomorrow may bring we just have to be ready to fight on.
Best,

You are Doing Great!
Hi dadsonlyson,
So glad to hear from you! I was wondering how you were all doing. Yes, you will not know if you are coming or going a lot of the time. That is normal. Keep up your good work, keep asking questions, get the answers, take it one hour at a time. Let us know how it is going. Hugs to you and dad.
