I had a liver reection 5
I had a liver reection 5 weeks ago and am starting chemo for a 3 month "mop up" plan as well. Surgery is closest thing to a cure. Surgery gives about a 40% chance of long-term survival, according to availalble data. I had tumors on both lobes-9 tumors- a large amount.
I am healing wonderfully

it can be beat
I had my liver resection june of last year. I followed about the same chemo schedule pre and post op that your father is doing. I did about 4 months post op chemo. They stop the chemo before the surgery to help control bleeding during the surgery. I am approaching the 1yr mark since my resection and they have yet to see any cancer return. I was stage 4. There is hope. Just read the posts of stage 4 people who have been hanging around for years. There is hope.0 -

Yeah one year for you!! CONGRATS!!!!
I had my liver resection on February 9th. Stage IV also. The surgery takes it's toll initially, but I am feeling very strong after 8 weeks. There are many many people who have gone NED for years on this site. Keep encouraging your Dad...and I will have him in my prayers!!!0 -
Hi,
I truly hope that you
Hi,
I truly hope that you can convince your Dad to have the liver resection. My boyfriend had his done in early March and is doing well now. I won't say that it was easy for him, but it's done, and he's now working on the chemo mop-up for the next four months. Please tell your Dad that 40% isn't so bad since who's to say except for God that he won't be part of that very special group of long term survivors! As the others have stated, liver resection provides a good deal of hope for a cure. My best wishes to you and your Dad. God bless. - Cynthia0 -

He is not a
Update....
He is not a canidate for the surgery We are praying the chemo will continue to do its job and possibly look at surgery in the future or even praying the chemo will take care of it all.... THanks for everything0 -
The "C" Word
Not THAT one! This word...Cure. Doctors do not throw it around casually at all. Mainly because it's hard to say with absolute certainty that ALL of the cancer is gone.
I see that you updated your Dad's situation. I can tell you that my liver was inoperable at first. I did 6 months with Avastin and it got rid of many tumors and shrunk the others so I became operable.
I wish you all the best
