Radiation results Wednesday

I had a CAT scan Monday to find out how effective the radiation was for the liver met. I have appointments with the MedOnc and the RadOnc Wednesday for results. I am optimistic that we achieved the goal of blasting the **** out of it. Still feeling a little anxious, but as all can relate, that is just the norm.

Also wanted to share that a site called OrganizedWisdom posted a link to CSN for anyone looking for support for anal cancer. I am grateful that we are all here for one another and for any others that may benefit from our support.

    will be thinking of you on wednesday for your results. I copied and pasted the following from labtestsonline.org and have had cea's ordered by my chemo doc

    How is it used?
    CEA is used mainly to monitor the treatment of cancer patients, especially those with colon cancer. Following surgery, CEA values are helpful in monitoring the response to therapy and in determining whether the disease has recurred. CEA is also used as a marker for other forms of cancer, including cancers of the rectum, lung, breast, liver, pancreas, stomach, and ovary. Not all cancers produce CEA, and a positive CEA test is not always due to cancer. Therefore, CEA is not used for screening the general population.

    She says that anal cancer falls into this category, we only know what our docs tell us right :-) and sometimes I don't think they are all on the same page unfortunately.
