Eye lashes
Beleive it or not I still have a few and tomorrow is hopefully my "last chemo". I have read threads on here where people lost thier eyelashes again after chemo, but then they grew back again. Sorry I cant help much, but I am looking toward the same thing. When will I have hair again, what color, what texture, curly or straight. When will my eyelashes come back, when can I wear mascara again. (Afraid to now, dont want what little I have left I come out on the wand) HAHA. I'm sure thier are sisters that will address your concern. Hang in there!

I finished chemo November 2007 and I lose my eyelashes about every 6 months! All the long ones fall out and you can see all the new ones already starting to grow.0 -

Glad it's not just me but sorry we all have to go through this again and again! It's not the end of the world, but it's annoying!! Why can't I lose the hair on my legs over and over??!!0 -
New Hair Timetable
I read somewhere that when your hair, lashes and brows first come in as babies, they come in slowly. Each hair strand comes in on it's own schedule. When they fall out, they fall out in this random schedule, also. When you lose them all together during treatment, all the hairs are now on the same schedule when growing back or falling out. So, if "Mother Nature" tells your hair/lashes to "go", they all can go at the same time. And then, they can grow back at the same time, too. Hence, lots of short hairs. I have noticed this "new schedule" several times since I finished treatments. :-(0 -

StarWish, that makes so much sense! I couldn't figure out why I was loosing so many of my eyelashes at the same time.
Thanks

After I had read this post I noticed my bottom lashes getting thin again and my eyebrows also seem to be thinning again (they never did come in completely) top lashes have never reached full growth. I would really have panicked if I hadn't read the first part of the post. I just looked it up and got your explanation and it makes sense. So I guess this is something to look forward to for a while. Hopefully, after a few years they will hopefully be a little staggered.
Thank heaven for eyeliner!

Hair loss after chemolaurissa said:Me too
And my brows came back so nice, now they're gone again. Lashes are very few too. Hope my hair stays on my head.
Hello everyone. Include me in the group who has lost eyelashes/eyebrows twice since completion of chemo on Dec 11, 2009! Also, hair on head has come back very thin, similar to male pattern baldness. Does anyone know if I can expect more/thicker hair in next few months. Thanks0 -

ok thought I had dodged that bullet and my lashes and eyebrows are coming out, lashes are different lengths, and eyebrows are thinned. finished chemo Jan 21. could it be the tamoxifen?0 -
I had a late reaction too
I lost mine like about 2 months after finishing Chemo. Then, when they did finally decide to grow back, they came to a screetching halt the minute they started so needless to say, they're super short and not all of them came out. But hey, having about 6 lashes on each eye is better than none I guess...
Same with my brows. it's like they stopped growing after the arch towards the outer part. My best friend is my brown pencil...don't leave home without it.
God bless,

My last chemo was 10/7/21.I lost my eyelashes and brows two weeks after. They were fully grown in by December. In March 2022 they all fell out again over a few day period. Grew back in over a few weeks. All fell out again in late June 2022. It’s mid July and they are almost all grown in again. Your explanation makes sense. I hope over time they will stagger in the growth cycle and it will be less noticeable. I’ll try to return in a few months with an update. This is one thing no one tells you to expect with chemo. Not the end of the world just another reminder I guess.

This is all so good to hear. I finished chemo on 9/1/22 and lost all of my eyelashes and much of my eyebrows, which was pretty demoralizing. I figured if I had to lose my hair, at least I could do make up - so much for that (mascara has always been my go-to). Thankfully, my lashes grew back pretty thick, which was exciting. Now, February 2023, the lashes are 90% gone and the brows are very thin. Sigh. Nobody wants to be in this club, but it’s nice to know I’m in good company.
