I'm wondering that also.
I
I'm wondering that also.
I would usually receive the Neulasta shot at least 24hrs after my chemo.
It really seemed to boost the wbc. So have you been receiving these shots?
Please find out and let us know and why or why not, something is just not adding up here.
I'm going to see my oncologist Tuesday and I'll be sure to ask about this.
I'll keep praying,

Praying your blood counts go up
I can feel your dissapointment and totally understand. Are you drinking boost or ensure each day to help your body rebound, along with a vitamin and iron supplement. I just learned we should take vitamin c with Iron so we get more from it. I know my body sometimes just tells me I have to take a break, whether I like it or not.(I know that doesn't help hearing that.)

We well all focus on your bone marrow kicking in and building them blood counts back up. It well happen. :-) Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -
HELLO
Hi
Don,t know if it helps or not.!!!! I read on this site that GATORAID can help boost the white cell count. I am on TOPOTECAN, which is very hard on the white and red cell counts. After my first round of the chemo, I caught a sinus infection and had to be hospitolized, my counts were so low. I start my fifth round on monday and my red cells have been down but my white cell count has been holding. I having been drinking two 20oz bottles of gatoraid a day.
Don,t know if it is keeping my white count up but I will keep drinking until I am through with the chemo.

Don't know about Gatorade, but one of the side effects of Lithium is an increase in white blood cells. That may be a bit extreme, however.

ETA....I have never taken Lithium, but I had a son-in-law who took it for a while. (Not long enough, however.) I just remember reading the insert and the part about white blood cells.0 -

Dinora, gatorade is great for you as it gives your body many electrictrolites,,, I am suppose to drink at least 32oz while healing from surgery. It also keeps you hydrated so you are not dealing with dehydration. Wise recommendation :-) Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -
I had the same problem...
all of my chemo was delayed this last round; I was supposed to have 6 treatments completed in December, but due to the treatment delays (low white cells & red), I didn't receive my 6th treatment until Feb 9th. And a week later, I had to have 2 pts. of blood.
Try to be patient. I was also getting Epogen shots to raise the cells, but it didn't help a whole lot.
Praying for you~ and Gatorade can't hurt. I drink it too.

I too drank gatorade (orange
I too drank gatorade (orange was my most tolerable).
It seemed to keep my energy up. Also look into ensure or boost, these were my staple drinks, but they did help.
They will find out what's going on with your counts.

I agree with the boost or ensure, I drink it each day to give me the necessary nutrietns to help my body recover. Boost is best to me. :-)0 -

Hi - your body really took a whacking with the chemo, but will heal and those numbers will come up so you can be on your way to finish the rounds! I still try to stay hydrated and I like Gatorade and lemon Crystal Light - really cold with ice (lots of Crystal light flavors to choose feom). I used to enrich my Boost w/frozen yogurt for the milkshake effect - esp. chocolate and would add a touch of left over coffee to a choc. instant breakfast for some mocha flavor. Been experiencing calf muscle cramps lately also- irritating!
Good luck, prayer and hope you get your numbers up soon. Ellen0 -

I'm with you on the boost! My doctor recommended Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink, which I love! It tastes like chocolate milk and has 20% of the Daily Recommended Protein:)
Still praying!

I am and have been lifting you in prayer. Let us know on Monday how it goes and also talk to your doc about maybe spacing the chemo out a little further. I know its scary but I do that a lot. Like on carbo they wanted every 3 weeks, but I went every 3 1/2 - 4 weeks instead to give my body more recovery time. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -
