Hello everyone...sorry I have been scarce
Anyway, we had great scans in January and we are going back on Thurs for more scans. Layne did follow up chemo, it was awfully rough...but we are done with it now and we are in the five year wait. UGHHHH. I never realize how bad doing NOTHING would feel. Very very very odd. I prefer to fight you know?
We have a good friend who just had his surgery today...and I was thinking about all of you...so I thought I'd post. We've just been so busy at work, trying to get the business to bring in enough to pay our bills. I am really concerned with Layne's business being gone. Wow, scary...it's just us and our little teeny business. After cancer though, it's not nearly as scary as it would have been. I know you understand that.
Layne has lost weight since surgery, but has leveled out and looks actually, amazingly well. He looks great in the face, and he is really looking healthy for the first time in probably 10 years. No dark circles, not overweight...just looking good.
He is eating pretty normally now. He sometimes uses his wedge, but not usually. He has noticed his night vision is not as good...weird side effect huh?
We finally got our secondary business moving a bit. Our cancer tees are in---and I am excited that the website will be up hopefully next week. I have great pics if anyone wants to see them of the first six. I am praying that we'll be able to use those to help people like us who have to pay for a large portion of their therapy and to help fund research. Could be just a dream, but I felt I had to try SOMETHING to help. I've met so many GOOD people on this journey. In fact, the journey has been of so much value for the richness it has brought to our lives...new friends, and so many who are my heroes. I know you all know what I mean by that, too.
I have seen we lost a few battles...and I did stop and shed some tears. I am so sorry. It seems a simple thing--a cancer of one little part of the body. There must be a way to arrest it. And we just have to find it. This disease is so cruel and so wrong. I have a lot of questions for the Lord when I see him someday.
Anyway, feel free to email me if you don't see me here. I am just so buried at work, I seldom get to log into the sites anymore. We homeschool too, so work and homeschool have about every minute of my time. One thing that I did lose to cancer was my ability to just be a mom and wife. I loved that role. I miss it terribly.
Love you all.
Betty

If you know how to get to that...my name is Betty Zabonik Johnson. OR email me... it is my first initial, last name at our company website: prostructllc.com
I LOVE that saying. As soon as we can get more art I am going to add that one if it is ok. Our site is going to have members of the month and caregivers of the month. I think a lot of those caregivers are going to come from right here...because I feel like everyone here is my hero.
Do keep our friend Joe and his wife Cindy in prayers. His surgery was today. No spread that they can see. THANK GOD. And we have another friend, Ants, who is in the hospital --with some spread and a few other difficulties.
Thanks William and Loretta, I missed you all as well. I even missed two visits from folks from here...what a long trot this has been to get the business really up on its two feet. But it will be worth it in the end.0 -
happy to hear you are "just" busy
Betty,
So glad things are going well....I was getting worried about you and Layne. I was even checking the ACOR site to see if you were posting there.
I am laughing (sorta) at your weight issue. I too (as I am sure most caregivers) lost that 10 lbs plus that I had been wanting to lose when Charlie was diagnosed. Well I have see that it has found me again....now it is stress eating. LOL
Prayers continue to come your way.
Stay strong, Jane0 -

William,
God is good. Another good checkup. How could it be anything else? Too many people on this site depend on you. I am just amazed how many new people are here.....I am praying it doesn't mean that statistics are getting worse....praying people are just finding this site.
Hope you are enjoying your spring in VA.
