4th treatment of chemo
Praying for all of you on the site. I have been reading but have been quiet. Seems the right thing and the right time to be still and quiet.

Suzie,

Suzie,
Keep the faith --- we had good news bad news this week as well--- the stent in my dad dropped into his stomach --- but the good news is it dropped because his tumor has shrunk so much. He ended up losing 9 lbs since last Thursday and was horribly dehydrated as well with horrible stomach pains. The radioligists dismissed his complaints and gave him lydacane to swallow and help with the pain and never checked to see if something might have happened with the stent. Really angry. So for 5 days my dad suffered until on Monday he couldn't take it anymore and went to the hospital --- and then they do emergency surgery on him on Tuesday at 6:30 pm almost 48 hours after he is admitted. Gotta say those doctors aren't going to know what hit them when I get to town. My mother doesn't say a word --- will be interesting to see what happens. And his white blood count is low. Seems like this is a fairly normal occurance at this stage of treatment.
I will keep you and Lyle in my prayers.

Cindy...I'm sorry to hear about your dad's difficulties this week! Crazy!! It is good news that your dad's tumor has shrunk...I'm hoping that Lyle's will too! I, too, will keep you in my prayers. When do you get to see your dad?

Thank you for the poem and prayers! Touching!! You are so right about wishing cancer had never happened in the first place. Sometimes I just can't hug him tight enough or soak in enough of his warmth to be satisfied. Not knowing if a single agent chemo is enough to do the trick on his already compromised body...but always knowing that no matter what is happening in Lyle's body...God still sits on his throne...as always...never leaving us to take this journey alone. He still knows all, loves us more than we can imagine, and goes before us in all things.

We fly down for the
Susie,
We fly down for the week on May 2nd, my Uncle goes down to help next week. So we are trying to put together some help for him. My mom is 81 doesn't drive and can't really help him much. They have a home health nurse coming in for a couple of hours a day until my Uncle gets there. When I get down to New Orleans I am going to meet with the social workers at the hospital and see what can be done and I told my dad he should call their Parish Priest and see what Catholic Charities or the parish might be able to do to help. But I am afraid his pride will keep him from calling. If he doesn't do it I will when I get down there. He was pretty scared last night and called me and wanted me to come right now and not wait - by the morning he called and said it would be okay to wait until the 2nd. Sure is frustrating not being closer. Thanks for the prayers I do think they are helping.
