Cancer spreading to abdomin, recent MRI

It may seem that the cancer has spread to my abdomin.

Any one fimilar with this,

Will have biopsy, possible friday to find out

Liver surgery on hold,

Trying to stay obtomistic.

    Mine was all over my abdomen
    My cancer had seeded throughout my abdomen, and I'm doing fine. Mine was found as mets to the abdomen. (Primary tumor - appendix cancer, found on ovary and throughout abdomen.) Surgery and chemo, and I'm doing fine.

    Hi,

    When I was diagnosed I had mets to liver and diaphragm. I did 12 rounds of Folfox and was declared NED. I went in for a liver resection and they found active disease still on my diaphragm,so no resection. BUT, three weeks later I went back for a diaphragm resection, Radio Frequency Ablation on some small sneaky liver spots and then they did a HIPEC. If you don't know, HIPEC is used for peritoneal mets (abdominal) to mop up remaing cells that can't be seen by the surgeon. They sew you back up except for some catheter holes and run hot chemo in the abdominal cavity for about 90 minutes.

    It is major surgery but I recovered nicely and wasn't as hard as my colon resection but that is probably because I wasn't dealing with just diagnosed devastation.

    It is not a common procedure and you have to do your research as to where you want it done. I had mine at Duke. This was in Sept. and I just finished a 12th round of post-op chemo. My scans in Feb. were clean and my CEA has been 0.86 and 0.87 for the last three months.

    You have options and lots of hope! I know another girl who had the same thing and she has been NED for a year.

    I'm 44 too.
    We are strong and have lots left to do.

    I remember after waking up from the no resection and being told about the diaphragm. I was alone because Duke doesn't allow family in the recovery room. I was devastated and cried for a week. I had to break out the Ativan just to function. Do you have any Ativan? When I have those moments of not being able to stop crying, it helps me.

    I'm sorry this is happening and I will pray for a good report for you.

    I am blown away by your news, I am so very sorry. Take a deep breath. There is a guy on the board Roger (Crow 71) who is having surgery tomorrow for his liver, reversal and peritoneal mets. I only bring this up in case you want to watch for any update from his wife Kim who also posts on here. May give you some insight on possibilities. Just a thought. We are all hoping for a good outcome for Roger.

    Hang in there, try to be optimistic, see what the docs say.

    I think I'll get a hair cut and maybe a peticure tomarrow, its time for some pampering

    I am glad
    I am glad you can still find joy in some of the little things. The big things cancer brings to the table can be such a drag. It amazes me how much something so small (as a pedicure - for you, not for me) can help deal with something so big.

    Misc pieces
    I had some scattered about my abdomen. When telling my cancer story, I just say they took out some misc pieces. They'll probably image you some more, try to get a chemo regimen to work then do surgery. Keep your head up!

    You should try a

    You should try a pedicure; they are great for women + men! My husband + I once had pedicures together + he LOVED it. I was able to convince him to go after I told him my macho brother goes regularly. They don't cure cancer (as far as I know) but they feel amazing.

    GOOD, to know advice
    Just knowing many of you who are still going strong have had simular DX makes all the difference,

    I really need to put this all in prespective and thank god I am doing so well over all.

    I will update when i know more

    I had a some swelling in my belly and it ached like alittle, but other wise not really, My liver met is considerable larger up from 1cm to 5.5cm and i do have a constant pain in my back because it is pressing on the main artery into the liver and this is why it concerns the surgen to the point he can nolonger do the surgery at this time, coupled with the new mets.

    Chemo for know. and more wait and see , I just hate the wait and see and summer with Ileo(my jucie friend) is going to be a bummer.
