PET CT Scan Tomorrow...Questions?

Hey everyone! My mom has her PET CT scan tomorrow morning and we meet with the oncologist in the afternoon. As a quick recap, she has a tumor in her rectum (diagnosed through colonoscopy) and 3 spots that showed up on her liver (seen on a CT scan) that they suspect are cancer. She is newly diagnosed and has had no treatment yet. I am in the process of making a list of questions to ask the oncologist when we meet with him tomorrow afternoon. Can any of you think of any good questions I need to ask that with being so new to this I may not be thinking of? I always go in with a list of questions to all her appointments, but always leave and have more I didnt think of before or while there. Thanks for any advice you can give me! Congrats to all the people with great news this week! I love reading all your success stories and it brings me so much hope!

Steph

    Some questions
    Some questions I would ask...

    1. Is it his impression that the liver is resectable to start?
    2. Does he work with a liver surgeon (not a general oncology surgeon)? What is the process for bringing patients to that surgeon for consultations?
    3. Has he any experience with the HAI (hepatic arterial infusion) pump as either a pre-treatment to surgery or adjuvant treatment to liver resection?
    4. Does his practice support a multi-disciplinary or alternative treatments in conjunction with chemo (nutrition, reiki, imagery, etc)?
    5. Has the CEA been measured yet? How often is it measured during treatment?
    6. After chemo begins what is his scan schedule? (every 2 rounds? every 4 rounds?)
    7. Does he specialize in colon cancer?

All I can think of for now. Make sure you write everything down and bring a voice recorder if you can.

    Good luck and best wishes,
    Amy
