my dad's battle

Just thought I'd update you all on my dad. Things are quickly declining for him. He was in the hospital for 2 days, they are still in California. They discharged him and I have told my mom it is time to let him go. He has suffered for so long and is just so miserable. So, hospice has been called in and they are taking good care of him. He's comfortable. I'm able to talk to him daily and I have my boys talk to him as well. He has calsifications on his brain and a lung infection. He has lost a TON of weight. But as long as he's comfortable for his remaining time I'll feel better. Hospice moved pretty quickly after he was discharged from the hospital. Please keep them in your prayers.
Hugs to all

your Dad
Erika,
Sorry to hear such news but understand how much it means that you can still communicate with your Dad and he can talk and respond and be comfortable. He sure has fought a battle and tried his best. I can say from personal experience that you feel more peace if your loved one is made comfortable and they forego heroic things that sometimes the patient does not want. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Stay strong. prayers always,

Erika,
so sorry to hear that your dad is declining. But---so glad he can be comfortable--you know he has held on---he will always love you guys---you have done all you can. But you can still keep loving him---keep telling him--hope your mom is OK too----and you. This I think, is something non of us can prepare for...
lots of love for you

So sorry to hear your
Erika,
So sorry to hear your news. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you face this new phase. Know you have done everything you keep and hopefully you will get a chance to go out and see hime. There are some amazingly cheap flights to the west coast these days.
Take care of yourself.

Oh my dearest Erica,
I am sending many hugs to you. You know I have been where you are. You, my dear, have been through a lot more though. God bless you. Yes, you have done everything possible. I totally agree with William, like I always have! Hospice is the answer. They are wonderful. They will take care of all of you. They will teach you what to expect, when someone is going to die. They will teach you how to prepare for it. You all need to give your dad your blessing, and let him know that it is ok for him to go. Hospice was our next step, but my dad went on peacefully himself. It is great that you can all still communicate with him. Cherish these last days with him. Tell him how much you all love him. Leave no rock unturned. I will be praying for all of you. It is now time for my dad, Ray and your dad, Gunther to meet in eternity! Love to all of you.
