Someone turned down the volume on my taste buds!
Janelle,
I am finding the same thing. It seems like my taste buds are at about 75%, anough to enjoy what I eat, but somehow all the flavor doesn't come through. I have been blaming chemo. Then everything tasted like cardboard and paste. I am about half way through radiation, and that hasn't seemed to affect my taste buds. I started femerol about three weeks ago, that only gives me joint aches. My boyfriend says that he is affected by texture too. Nothing really tastes good, and the texture of meat is a real turn-off. He used to drink Coca-cola ALOT. Now he can't stand it. Maybe it is one of those individual affects.
I used plastic silverware too, Shortscakes, and it really helped me. I still eat my yogurt with a plastic spoon.

Yes, that was one of the first things I noticed----my taste buds changed and I have developed some aversions to certain foods. It kind of comes and goes, and right now all
chicken, red meat, pork, are SO disgusting to me. For now, I am a vegetarian. But who knows, in a week or two it could change. Mine is very unpredictable.0 -

My husband bought me three boxes I love cheese its, and they taste awful ... like cardboard. Nothing tastes quite right, although the week before my next chemo it was better. Some things are okay, fried rice and soy sauce, pancakes, but most foods have kind of a dull flavor. Tea is good, like peppermint. Also got mouth sores, but the salt and water combo and baking soda and water combo helped that. Veggies that are raw taste okay and bananas are great and apples too, but everything else is kind of bland.0 -

I wasn't affected that way at all. Didn't want anything during 2 chemo reaction days, then pretty normal. Used plax mouthwash as usual before brushing teeth never had any mouth sores. We all react so differently! Never struggled with blood count either, ate spinach a lot plus liver at least twice each cycle. On arimidex now, have some complaints but at least my taste buds haven't changed!0
