Attitude

It is a proven scientific fact that attitude and belief are more important than statistics. What do you think? Do you think it has anything to do with the reactive side of the brain or the thinking side of the brain? Just wondering what all of you think?

I have no idea. I have
I have no idea. I have always heard that "positive attitude" is key. However, just after I was diagnosed, my brother-in-law sent me a study that determined you can beat cancer, even if you don't have a "positive attitude".
It's a crap shoot. Some of the perkiest people on the planet will still die with it, and some of the most depressed, weepiest souls will go into complete remission.
I think a good attitude certainly can't hurt (and is healthier, for the patient and his/her family and friends), but I do not believe it will cure Cancer, or prevent it.

Yes Marleyboo I agree that
Yes Marleyboo I agree that having a positive attitude takes you a long way. If you always think you are going to get through this then you will do anything it takes to make it happen. I have a very strong positive attitude and on the whole feel like I will win this current fight. I also believe in fate and destiny and if it is your time to go then its your time to go.
However, I know you have to fight this thing called cancer. Its no good sitting around thinking "oh poor me, look at me I have cancer boo hoo" and expecting a miracle to come along and cure you. I have faced surgery/procedures and have been poorly with the effects of chemo - but still I will fight on.
Its not my time yet and I still have a lot of living to do.
So yes, positive thinking and a gutsy attitude is my way of dealing with cancer & so far it appears to be working Tina xxxx0 -
An interesting study
They did a study on two groups of patients who had bad knees. They divided them into two groups. One group the opened the knee, cleaned all the debris, fixed the knee and sewed it back up. Second group they opened the knee rinsed it out and closed it back up. They both had exactly the same results at one year. They BELIEVED that the Dr. was going to fix it and so it was. I believe totally in my body's ability to heal. I believe that our belief system has a huge impact. I know from my own. The more sorry I felt for myself the more sorry I felt. I think a fighting will fights cancer but that is just me. I do know this it is proven and scientific. I also totally believe in the power of prayer. No one talked to me about any of this nor did I think of it on my own. I learned from 5 yrs. of studying and living each and every day that the more positive I was the better I felt. I don't know that it is going to save your life but the quality of your life will be soooooo much better. I have lived on both sides of this fence. I have been as low as you can go.0
