Lyle and I live in a lake community in Arizona. We had a wonderful time sitting at the lake yesterday fishing in our 78 degree weather. I love that guy!! He always takes my fish off the hooks for me!! (grin) Happy Spring everyone...and Happy Easter! May you have wonderful times with your loved ones!

    Susie,
    Sounds wonderful ---

    Susie,

Sounds wonderful --- does he clean the fish too? Good luck this week. Isn't it wonderful when we can put the monster to the side and enjoy time with out loved ones.

    You've got that right William...
Lyle is a keeper. He is my prince because he treats me like a princess...NOT a servant, silly!! Sorry about the rain...we had an 80 degree day today!! Beautiful sunroof open, windows down kind of day!!

Lyle isn't feeling too well today. I think this journey between cancer treatments and dialysis is going to be challenging for him in the energy department. He isn't sleeping well...anyone have any suggestions? He has to sleep sitting pretty straight up due to the stent and the acid. I think he only got about an hour last night but has slept much of the day today.

The beauty of fishing in our lake is that it is catch and release. No fish guts at all!! And yes...the time we have that isn't focused on a health issue is precious!!

    Sleep...or lack of
    Hi Susie-
My husband's dr just recently suggested that Lou try taking Benadryl to help him sleep. Or he could try Melatonin- it's a natural supplement. Lou did try the Benadryl last week and it helped. I bought him some Melatonin also, because of the drying effcts of Benadryl. But it wasn't bothersome so he hasn't tried the Melatonin. Maybe it would be ok for Lyle too.

We just reached 60 deg in Illinois. Wow you're fishing already!!! Lucky you!

    Take care-

Thanks Marta!! That's a great idea! I know they give him benedryl before chemo...so maybe it will be ok. I will have to check on the melatonin due to his kidney issue...but a friend of ours takes that and has success with it, too! I appreciate your help!!

WELCOME TO MY WORLD OF YOUR LOVED ONE SLEEPING SITTING UP
    Susie,

This is not uncommon for your husband to sleep sitting up, this is a natural thing, Jeff slept sitting up until up to October, get use to being a widow and sleeping in the bed by yourself because you will be more than you think.

If I can help let me know

SUSIE - STEVE WAS DX 12/07 WITH EC AND HAS SPENT MOST OF THE FOLLOWING MONTHS /YEARS EITHER SLEEPING IN THE RECLINER OR THE MOTORIZED BED THAT RECLINES. WE BOTH GOT ONE SO WE COULD BE SIDE BY SIDE AGAIN & I COULD LIE BASICALLY FLAT WHILE HE COULD REMAIN COMFORTABLE BUT WE WERE TOGETHER AGAIN IN ONE BED. THEY ARE VERY QUIET, CAN BE SET VERY PRECISELY TO WHATEVER IS COMFORTABLE FOR LYLE AND DON'T HAVE TO COST AN ARM AND A LEG. CHECK IT OUT!

Thank you for the idea! Right now he cannot lean back at all. But I will definitely keep that bed in mind. I think I know what bed you are talking about. Funny thing is that when Lyle's kidneys quit functioning we had to buy a bed that was a special and expensive water bed. It helped him sleep until this stent was placed. Since then...he has been miserable! Did your husband ever have trouble keeping his head still while sleeping sitting up? I think that is the toughest part for him. We just can't seem to find a solution to keep his head from bobbing.

    Susie,
Would a neck pillow help....like the ones you see people wearing on airplanes?? Just a thought.
