I have one chemo treatment remaining as of right now. I go April 5th for a PET scan, then April 6th for a C/T scan. Praying for a clean PET and C/T Scan. I then have my sixth and hopefully final chemo treatment April 7-9th. I have learned so much about cancer and chemo since my tumor was found October 16, 2009. Surgery was followed in November 2009 and now I have reached the final treatment. I have learned much by being involved in this discussion board and will continue to direct others to become involved as I find others with cancer.

I look forward to continued involvement on this board and hope I can be of help to someone new as you all were to me when I first signed on. Bless all of you and have a great weekend!!!!!

    phew!
A long process---but you are well on your way!!!--one day at a time... Have you been able to gain weight and feel better (getting energy back etc)? It seems that everyone is different. I haven't been able to follow everything here---did you have the minimally invasive procedure or the more "open" one?

It is great that you are able to help others---many really need to"hear" form someone that has actually gone through this before. You will have a lot of opportunity to help others on this site!

    Keep up the steady recovery!

great you are coming to the end of treatment.
    Hi Duane,
This is great that you are finishing up. Think you and I have similar time lines. I finished my last chemo on 3/17, getting a CT scan on 4/13 and hopefully on my way to just checkups. I will be praying that those scans are clear and that the last chemo is the Last chemo!!!! Everyone appreciates your words of encouragement and help, the newbies really need all the info they can get and it so much more hopeful than what they read in the medical articles. Thanks for your kind words about my friend Mary Ann and like Kim I am interested in how you have done so far, gaining weight, eating etc. Weight is my biggest problem and I might have to have my throat stretched. Keep us up on those scans and how you are progressing. take care, prayers always!!

    Thanks
Thank you to everyone for the positive comments. I did have the open surgery back in November 2009. I was in the Hospital for approx. 12 days, most of which was spent in ICU. I have been able to eat fairly well and my weight has leveled off right now. I lost approx. 46 lbs from when I had surgery until today. I now have to eat smaller meals, usually 6-7 throughout the day. I have had periods when my taste buds didn't work and I just ate without really tasting things. Other times I find that foods I used to enjoy now have different taste to me. I am sure once I get past this last chemo I will be getting full energy and taste back.

I normally have chemo on Wed,Thur,Friday. I would starts having side effects Sunday after Chemo. Then I would be down the entire next week with fatigue. The next week I would be feeling really good and then the third week it was chemo again and then the same cycle. I am looking forward to getting back to full energy and just check-ups. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying for Clear scans this week.

    Thank you,
