Had first chemo on Thursday. Main side effect was fatigue. Yesterday had Neulasta shot and that went very well. Not really sore bones or joints that I can tell. Still feel puny today somewhat. But otherwise, all is well. Having some loss of appetite, any ideas that may help. Also, the nurse who gave my Neulasta shot said that if it was administered slowly it would help you alot. She did an excellent job and I can't tell I have any effects. Hope this helps someone. Praying for eveyone here and sending angels hugs to yuo all.

Glad to hear it hasn't been too bad for you, Tally!
I also had no appetite for a few days after each round. Even if I didn't feel like eating, I found I felt SO much better if I just had a little protein a few times a day -- a small container of cottage cheese, a piece of cheese, a little yogurt, something like that that's easy on your stomach. Really, I can't stress enough how much just a little protein helped with the tiredness and just general all-around puny-ness.

Edit: Was also thinking -- if you have a family member or friend you can send out to a nearby juice bar, a fruity smoothie with some protein powder would also be good, or even a milkshake, if that sounds good to you. I had an older friend who had also done chemo who was always pushing Ensure on me -- but I say, heck, why have Ensure when you can have Ben & Jerry's? :-)0 -
Yea!
Yea for you, tally! My first chemo was Tuesday, and I've been feeling pretty good. Just a little puny and head-achey. We got through the first one! Yea for us! Yea for Ben and Jerry's!0 -
Congratulation To You!
First chemo was nerve wracking for me. Glad to hear you are feeling well, and hope you stay that way. I agree - Ben and Jerry's beats Ensure hands down. I would send my son out for me.0 -

Good news, Tally. Hope this
Good news, Tally. Hope this post still finds you without any effects from the Nuelasta. I did notice some bone pain by the 3td day but managed to take Extra Strength Tylenol to control it. Check with your onc first before you take anything, though. Good luck with the remainder of your treatments.0 -
I've had no appetite since
I've had no appetite since my first A/C on Aug 26,2009. At least taste came back shortly after the end of Taxol. My last radiation was on Mar 10, 2010 - still no appetite.
The only 'problem' I had with Neulasta was that 2 hours (almost to the minute) after the shot I would go to sleep for about 2 hours.
Other than the loss of hair, loss of taste and appetite the only problems I had with either of the chemos was fatigue. With A/C, it wasn't bad - just 2 days after each infusion (done every 2 weeks) I was tired for 2 days but resting would help. With the Taxol though I was totally wiped out. I had it weekly for 12 weeks and during that time there were 2 days a week that I was just a bite tired but the other 5 - it was utter and complete exhaustion. Sleep (or more correctly lack of) was also a problem with it even with 'beddy-bye' pills.
Drink lots of water! Fruit juice (the real stuff - not 'artificially flavored') is good (I like the peach or pear nectar poured over crushed ice - makes sort of a 'snow cone' but in a cup/glass). For protein, yougart, cheese, ice cream, eggs (I love hard boiled eggs), bananas, in small amounts but often.
It's great to get experiences from everyone but remember that each of us is unique and your path will be different than anyone else's.0
