Tina,
I am praying and
Tina,
I am praying and hoping that they will be keeping a super, duper, close eye on you during and after this last chemo. Have you asked the onc what it would change on recurrence if you didn't do this last chemo? This is such a two edged sword. Many years ago I had a very toxic reaction to a Sulfa drug. Fortunately I was in the hospital and it was treated. I broke out in hives and a full body rash, my temperature elevated and the skin on my hands and feet peeled off (Steven Johnson syndrome if I remember right) Very serious. So if you do this last chemo, at the first sign of anything even mildly resembling a reaction get to the ER. Again, I will be saying the big prayers for tomorrow that all goes well.

Praying and sending lots of hugs
My onc stopped Taxotere after my third session and I was swithced to another chemo for 2 more sessions and then another for my final. All due to side effects that were not as severe as yours. So I know about thinking is this chemo going to kill me or is the cancer. I have heard of others only doing 4 sessions of chemo and that was enough. Sending all my positive thoughts your way.
Praying for no side effects for you this last round and then a great big celebration afterwards when you are feeling better. This is the very best of milestones to reach.

Oh, Tina you're so right about this journey not being easy. I was suppose to have 4 Taxol treatments but had such a bad reaction to it I stopped after only one. Like you I thought if I did it again it would kill me. The taxol part is only 3% of my total so I'm taking the chance that the cancer does not come back.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hope all goes well for you.

Tina, I'm also sending
Tina, I'm also sending strength for you to get through the treatment. I agree with Steph, if you see even the slightest reaction, get it looked at immediately. Best of luck to you tomorrow and keep us posted. You're on the road to NED so keep on truckin'. Take care.0 -

Maybe you're finished!
Tinabug, I hope you're finished with your last treatment and that you did all right! What a hard decision. I almost was faced with the same thing - having a reaction on treatments 2 & 3. The Onc wanted to believe it was reaction to steroids but he finally concluded it was reaction to taxotere. I would get hot and beet red on my skin. They would stop the infusion, wait awhile, and then restart. I was able to finish which I was so thankful for. The Onc was thinking about switching my drugs but I just wanted to get the taxotere in me and be through! Waiting to hear how you're doing. My prayers are with you, dear girl.

I had such severe chemo reaction symptoms the first time my omc recommended a 10% reduction in dosage. She said it would not affect the efficacy of the treatment, they have to start somewhere and often make adjustments. Something to talk over with your onc.BethInAz said:Maybe you're finished!

I survived
Thank you all for your support, kind words, & prayers. I didn't have any problems with chemo today...yeah!!! I am praying to get the next 21 days behind me without any issues. My oncologist was off today, but came in & checked on me, which made me feel much better. I am wondering if maybe I didn't consume enough liquids after my last treatment & it caused the toxicity in my body. I'm not taking that chance this time, drinking water, juice, gatorade, etc... I am so thankful to have my last treatment behind me & hoping in (6) weeks I can have these horrible expanders replaced with implants.
I would not have made it this far without you...you are all AMAZING & I thank God for your friendship.
Huge Hugs,

Replacing expanders with implants will be a dream come true! I'm trying to love my expanders -- I am glad to have them and they're doing their job -- but they're not very nice to me sometimes.
Yea for you and getting through chemo! I just started my chemo this week. Stories like yours have helped me feel I can do it.0 -

Bless your heart! We are all so relieved that the chemo went soooo much better! Drinking fluids is truly imperative~ keeps us hydrated of course, and flushes the system.
You would too have made it this far without us~ but it is nice to have each other along for the ride, isn't it? LOL And, we are no more amazing than YOU are!
