same dose
Linda,
Charlie is on the same dose...each pill is 500 mg....so it is 1500 mg in the morning and 1500 in the evening. Takes it within 30 minutes of a meal. He actually started out on a lesser dose and the dr kept increasing it until he saw some side effects.....

Linda,
I would say Charlie weighed around 280 when he got sick. (He was putting on weight like crazy due to the fluid in the peritoneal cavity. They removed 4.5 liters the first time and 7 liters the next time....that is a lot of weight.) When he was done with his 4th round of infused chemo, we was down to just under 220. So he lost around 60 lbs. He has since put back on 30...so he weighs around 250 right now. I hope he dosn't put on any more but when I hear about all the rapid weight loss, I am actually glad he has that cushion.

Xeloda
Hi Linda,
Yes that is the correct dose. My dad was on the same. 6 pills, 500 mg. each, 3 in the am, 3 in the pm.
That would total 3000 mg. a day. Worked great for my dad's ec. Once he had mets to his liver, the xeloda did not work. Best of luck to you and your husband. Watch his weight, give him high calorie, high protein foods. Keep in touch.

ed's doctor says 3,000 mg of xeloda is correct for his weight, yet I am concerned because he is so small now, just under 130 pounds, it doesn't seem correct that he would be on the same as someone who weighs 200 pounds, am I correct? doesn't chemo go by how big the person is and what they weigh?0 -

Linda,
Not sure....I know Charlie's infused chemo was adjusted based on his weight. See what you can find out on-line....and call your dr's office.
