earlier today i was almost as anxious as the day i waited for the phone call with the cancer diagnosis after the biopsy. i was scheduled for my first chemo treatment, 5FU, epirubicin and cytoxan. everyone was as kind and caring as they had been at my initial visits. it's over and i feel fine. relieved that i've taken that first step toward completing treatment. i know some of the side effects may not hit for several days to a week or more. but i feel better none-the-less. just having started is good enough for now.

Yay for you Susan! You have
Yay for you Susan! You have the first and "worst" one over with....I hope you continue to feel well through your treatments. Are you going for a nuelasta shot tomorrow? That can make you a little achey too.

    doc says this regimen does
doc says this regimen does not necessarily depress white cells. i opted to wait till next week, check a blood count if it is down then i'll get Procrit for two doses. since we will then know that it affects me and i'll get neulasta after remaining treatments. maybe i can get out of needing to get it. that would be a nice thing.

    Getting started is good
I had my first chemo today. Like you, I feel fine tonight, but a little wound up from the steroids. For me, it's like with my mastectomies -- the waiting was so hard. I hope you don't get hit with side effects, but I know we'll just see. We got it started -- yea!

    Ditto on drinking water
Congrats on getting the first chemo behind you! I'll repeat Tina's advice...drink LOTS of water and get some rest. Keep on top of any side effects before they become too bothersome.

    Keep up the good work!
    Hugs,

    !st Chemo
Susan, Keep the faith and talk to people who have gone through this. I had my 1st Chemo on April 2. The meds have controlled the nauesa and stuff. I'm just a little tired. Keep pumping the fluids. I've had enough water in the past 3 days to fill a small swimming pool but I think it works. Keep a positive attitude that has been my best assest.I make jokes all the time about the chemo and cancer. I think one of my best is that when I lose my hair and wear a wig to school I'll get frustrated and throw the wig at a student. Keep smiling.
