a dear beloved lost to cancer

A year ago a beloved friend of the family fell ill with stomach cancer. He had chemo and radiation only to find it had metastized to the liver. His wonderful devoted wife, did everything she could to take care of him however the last couple of weeks he went downhill. I sat with him last night while he slept and when he did open his eyes he was unresponsive, he was on morphine so he did not feel pain. This morning at noon he died.

While I understand this is life, that is birth and death, it is very very sad to loose a grandfatherly figure and someone who was wonderful with my daughter as he was with other kids. He was a renowned Congolese drummer and well respected elder in the community. We shall miss him dearly

Anway I just wanted to share. My heart has been heavy.

    Mariam I am so sorry for your families loss, yes it is life but that does not ease the pain. I will remember you and yours in my prayers tonight as you say good bye to such a treasured family member.

    Im so sorry to hear about your loss. I know its hard to deal with. I just lost a friend and family member due to a bad car accident.. My prayers and support are with you!!!!!!!!!

    Every time we loose someone
    Every time we loose someone it brings our own fragility and mortality closer to the forefront. It is so hard to deal with the loss of a friend and loved one, especially a grandfatherly figure. There is nothing I can say, except I am sorry, and my thoughts are with you!!

    I am so sorry for your loss. I have been saying for years that the worst part of getting older, in my opinion, is experiencing the loss of our family and friends. I know it's all part of life, but it is a very difficult part!! Sending a (((hug))) your way. Take care.

    Sympathy and prayers for
    Sympathy and prayers for your friend's family and I'm sure this man leaves a big hole to fill. My husband and I just lost a dear friend to lung cancer, which no one knew he was suffering with as he just had a bad cough but had not been dxed until 3-4 weeks ago. The worst part is that our friend really had no family left and died alone. No one should have to die alone and this really left us hurting but at least he's out of his suffering. We'd had went to see him and were planning on going again but he passed before we could see him again.
