Hey Tina, This back pain
Hey Tina,
This back pain reminds me of Kathy's Al. Sorry to say this, but it could be in his spine. But.....it also could just be back pain. The scan will show for sure. The unknown is the worst. Try to stay positive. Prayers will be being said for Scott!

Hi Tina,
Does your Dad get a Neulasta injection for his white blood cell counts after his chemo?? It is an injection they give 24 hrs after your chemo and it causes bone pain. I got it bad in my hips up my back till the nurses have me take Clariten the day before and the day of and day after and that helps, also oxycodone helps. Just an idea. My friends platelets went down after chemo and then they would build up on their own after a week. Hope this helps, hoping that it is not what you are afraid of. After Al's and Luis' experience, wish the drs required a full bone scan on every patient before surgery, because that is what everyone is scared of now. My prayers will be it is his regular back pain or a Neulasta side effect. take care, prayers always,

Thank you soooo much for replying! My dad is on xeloda 4 pills total a day. And he is on oxaliplatin, and epirubicin. I did read on chemo care that it could be from the meds and that can cause joint and bone pain. So that is a good sign. Since he always had back pain it very well could be from that as well as just working..
Donna he does not get shots.
I know that his levels are always low after chemo but they do pick back up two weeks later. But their is a range and his was always around 200 even after chemo. But this time its really really low. but maybe its from 3 rounds of chemo and continously pills of the xeloda.
After his CT scan he will be meeting with the drs. They will set him up with the radiologist then and he may go with radition then. That is the plan. I guess they are doing three rounds of chemo then radation then more chemo.
Thanks for the replies and prayers
God bless

Hi,
The best thing I can say is ask if they can move the scan up. I just to ease your what if's
I had said that your dad has had back pain prior to surgery, so did Al. It doesn't hurt to ask! The platelets will come up, if they don't then they may just give him a little break from the chemo.
Remember your dad is not Al or Luiz. I am praying that back pain is just back pain!!
You can private e-mail me if you need to.
God Bless,
Kath0
