Perforated diverticulum caused by chemo

Had my CT Scan on Monday and ended up in the hospital for three days because of a Perforated diverticulum. Just got home. Supposedly the perforation closed itself off, but it seems to have been caused by the chemo. Have any of you had this? This was supposedly a small perforation, but I have to wonder how bad it can get.

    Glad you made it home
and all in one piece.Sorry you had to be in the hospital but glad it closed off by itself. Hope you are feeling ok?

I've never heard of what you had but there are lots of things I've never heard of.

I am finding out first hand that chemo can cause some strange things. I'm on the 7th treatment. 5 more and hopefully things will smooth out a little :)

    Take care.

    Cessna, a retired preacher
Cessna, a retired preacher friend of mine died a few months ago when a diverticulum burst and they couldn't stop the bleeding. He got peritonitis. Now this has freaked out my mother who has loads of pouches....

    Gosh, I'm glad you're okay!

    Nasty!
Never heard of this. Just another one of those extra bonuses! Do they ever stop?

Glad to hear you are recovering. Luck to not have peritonitis. Oouch!

    Be well... Rob; in Vancouver

Thanks for the info Diane and everyone else
My doctor is holding off on the chemo for a couple of weeks. I'm Stage 2A and a little more than half way through my treatment, and knowing that a perferated diverticulum can kill me I have to now decided if I should continue with the chemo. I've had this condition in every chemo cycle and so it looks like I will have another perferation if I continue with the chemo, but nothing is certain and I will discuss all this with the doctor.

    I do remember you talking
I do remember you talking about the gut pain with every chemo treatment! Thankfully they figured this out before it got to be a REALLY big problem!
