If this doesn't work......
Well it's taken me threee days to write this post. Not sure if I wanted to alarm you guys. But doctor "kiljoy" tells me that if the taxol works he'll be laughing and I siad I'll be right along with him. Then he tells me that if it doesn't work, well that means that I've ran out of options and that it would be time to sit down and have the talk with Meghan. Now I'm not goig to spook myself anymore than I have to, he's done a good enough job at doeing that for me. Oh along with being a speicalist in "bowel obstruction" I failed to mention that he is part of the paliative care team. They're a team alright. I decided while he insisted on telling me this that I wasn't going to let it ruin my day and that I made up my mind that this will have to work. But I have 4 more to go, I did my 2nd yesterday and I'm not doing as bad as I did last week. Still waiting for all the swelling to go away, that would be such a great day when and if that happens. I would just love to be able to eat what ever I want without suffering from the illness. Anyway that is it in a nutshell, so let's hope this taxol works.
I need possitive reinforcements here Ladies. Please pray real hard for me and I know you already do, I've been, but not sure if he is hearing me. I love you guys and I'll check n later.
Linda

The taxol is gonna work, sweetie. It has to.BonnieR said:Prayers N Hugs
Dearest Linda, I am beyond words right now ~ but very much in prayer for both you and Meghan. May the Dr be laughing with you and shaking his head, as the taxol attacks and fights the cancer cells. Much Love Bonnie
I could slap your 'bowel expert'! I hope you both laugh hard when the taxol brings you back to a better place.
I think of my husband asking my chemo oncologist before my last scan, when the doctor was discussing what chemo drug to try next; "What if she gets a clear scan?"; and my oncologist replying, "That's not likely." And when my scan was clear, he DID laugh! And so did we!
And it was taxol that my oncologist was so underestimating. So hang on it that!

Linda....I don't know what
Linda....I don't know what to say, except I am so sorry your doctor is such a Gloomy Gus. I think he should not make any dire predictions until he knows there is no more ammunition in your arsenal. Even then.......he does not have the final say.
Do they check your CA125 after each treatment? If so, how is it doing?0 -

I totally agree with Carlene. I'm praying this guy laughs so hard he pees his pants!
We love you and are praying, dear one!

I double agree with what everyone here are saying. In my experience doctors are so so gloomy and pesimistic and always give the worse possible case prognosis's. Please please don't let this wear you down. No one knows what will happen tomorrow and you are a very strong woman and can acheive miracles. Taxol is a mighty powerful drug. My chemo nurse told me it is the best of the best so hang on in there and prove your doctor wrong.
Much love Tina xx0 -
GRRR ARRRGHH!!
Linda,
Dr. Pessimist isn't God and there's no expiration date tattooed on your backside! Keep up the good fight honey, and take a video camera to post his laughter on YouTube!
On another note, is there any way you can get a second opinion?
Thinking of you and Meghan daily! You are both in my prayers!
HUGS!

I do not like that doctor killjoy, I do not!!! If you ask for facts, he needs to give them, but always with a message of hope. There is always hope!!! There is a course on bed side manner missing in Oncology. I have said this before, but I think we should put all the talent together from this board and write some curriculum for them. LOL!
I agree with Leesag, can you get a second opinion? I have a good friend in Canada , and I am aware that things can be a bit more complicated, there with the national medical system.
You relax, Linda, and let the taxol do it's thing!!!
Hugs and prayers for you and Meghan.

Hi Linda,
I will continue to
Hi Linda,
I will continue to pray that all will get better for you.
All the doctors do is just go off of worst case scenarios, but your doctor could use a lesson in good-bedside manner.
Anyway...I feel great about your recovery, sometimes it isn't an easy road but worth it once we get there, and I feel you will.
So don't give up that hope, its' never over until its over, so hang in there
Love,

You know what????I really am sick of doctors!
The way I see it is you have two options:
1. You get better with the taxol and just put up with "Mr. Sensitivity" and his laugh
2. The taxol does not work, "Mr. Sensitivity" says I told you so, Then you find a new doctor who does help-then you have the last laugh!
Only the best,

Come on Linda
We are all rooting for taxol and Linda to be a mighty team! Some doctors are just not on the wagon when it comes to optimism. Maybe he just hates his choice of medicine. I mean, I always wonder why someone would choose the bowels or palliative care. LOL We'll all be praying for you. This once a week treatment is new to me. Sending lots of prayers up for you at this time. Saundra0 -

Hello my Ladies
Well I'm glad I had the energy and Meghan's "free" computer to sign on to take a look to see what you little elves have been up to. LOL I see very very busy! I feel a lot of relief reading all these posts. Not knowing a darn thing about taxol and it's effects I seem at times to go blindly into this as for me too much information is just that, too much.
Based on what I'm reading it sounds like some of you know first hand about taxol and although I'm only on #2 I'm not sure how I'm feeling. One thing for sure, they had to put a pick (spelling) line in my arm for some anitbiotic for that infection that I caught while in the hospital. Now I'm teathered to a darn (seems) like a 20lbs bag over my arms for the next two weeks, well at least there is an end to this one so I'll try to go with it, no choice.
Thank you so much for all the encouragement, you all know how much I need to hear some good words. Yeah paliative care and bowel obstruction all in one, boy I"m right up his alley. Well Meghan is sitting waiting patiently for her computer so I have to sign off. Love all of you guys so much. I'll drop by when she's sleeping.0 -

Thank you sooo
Hi Tina,
Thank you sooo much. I was actually inspired by YOUR stunning bald look. You really rocked it. I am 53 years old and lord willing hope and pray that I make 54. But you can't seem surprised either your look is so youthful!!!
I have a couple of wigs but being in Texas, I don't think I'm ready to attack the Texas heat...it's so unforgiving. Plus I flash all the time. LOL!
Take care and oh yes, I love your new look, it looks sassy and carefree on you.

Well if I may butt in this little discussion, I have to agree with both of you. Totally. You both rock and Tina if you are 53 I'd eat my (was gonna say bra, but I have nothing to put in them these days so can't do that) dust. You both look absolutely beautiful. All the ladies here are awesomely beautiful. I"ll catch up. You'll see. Love you guys!!!0 -

Dorion and Sharon, thank-you for your comments they mean a lot to me. I have just celebrated my 50th birthday. The photo of me on here was taken just before my hair fell out.I have such a low self-image thing going on at the moment. I am completely bald and have lost almost all of my eye brows and eye lashes. I look in the mirror and do NOT recognise the woman staring back at me. The chemo has also caused pigmentation patches on my face which makes me look about 80 first thing in the morning. Whenever I do put make up on I have to be so careful not to overdo it other wise I look like a painted doll. I have taken to wearing scaves at the moment because ever my wig looks like a wig (my own perception) so I feel a bit like a freak on my bad days.
Sorry to take over this thread ......
Much love to you all. I am moaning about appearances whne so many of you are suffering life and death decisions, sorry.
Much love to you all Tina xxxxxx0
