Couldn't think of anything else at the time when I foundADKer said:It's where I live
I have lived in the foothills my entire life. I am an Adirondacker.
couldn't think of anything when I found this site a month after surgery as I was still in so much pain, agony,fear and loneliness, with no one but girlfriend so I needed something simple to remember (which now seems so stupid) so I wrote coloCan as thats what brought me here in the first place. i'd post my face or being but do not know how to do so . Having your face or something personal as avatar gives it a human touch but I don't know how. Have pictures in Windows Mediaplayer from my digital camera in my laptop but thats about it. Hope no one got flooded from super heavy rains and wind we just had in NY.......steve0 -

I was 19 at the time....back in 1974 or 75, whatever. I lived with my parents at the time. A very ugly woman moved in across the street from California. She was 32, I was still 19, she was 32, and ugly, but I was 19. She had an issue with a front porch light one evening so I went over and changed it for her. I came back home 7 months later. She was 32, I was 19. The guys at the local restaurant told me that if I would go out with her then I would go out with anything so "Buzzard" was born. Remember, she was 32, I was 19...............0 -

I started working on cars when I was 10 years old helping my stepdad fix cars,and my dad liked working on cars.In the 70's I had a dodge challenger,1970 that I raced.And now I have a 1935 ford coupe that used to be a race car,that I turned into a streetrod,and I help my friends work on theirs.I rebuilt my first engine when I was 16,So everyone calls me car guy.0 -

My daughter gave me the nickname "Toots," and I used to use that. I kept running into other people having that nick, so I eventually switched to tootsie!

As the name suggests I kayak the lakes here in Texas. Not just the exercise that I like but I enjoy taking my two doxies out for a paddle.0 -

cb = CB (My hubby)
car = Carolyn (Me)
d = Duke (Christopher-Oldest Son)
b = Brandon (Youngest Son)
12 = Means nothing, just wanted to add numbers!
cbcardb = All letters keyed with left hand. Very convenient!

Vision
Nice thread... Well, I tried a few names first that had already been taken so I sat and wondered what I should think about every time I logged on. I am a part time inventor and have always had a vivid imagination (daydreamer). I have an ability to visualize something in my head and actually see the various workings and problems without ever seeing it on paper. In my mind I can see a finished project or product before it even begins. So naturally I can see myself without cancer. Thus, that is my "project" for 2010. I imagine myself beating cancer in 2010 and this reminds me how, each time I log in...

I always had a hard time finding a name that no one else had and not wanting to be (Kim88898365)so I came up with NB (New Braunfels) TX (Texas) Girl thus NBTXGIRL. Although I am here for my father, the man in the picture with me is Tom Silva, from the This Old House television show. I did a project for This Old House and this is the only picture of me downloaded on my computer. This was a great idea, knowing the meaning behind these names.0 -
Why Thready
Well I am Thready and the name does not have to do with cancer, it is just who I am. I love to sew and one Sunday morning I got up early to work on a project for a quilt class that I would be teaching in the coming weeks. Later that morning we went to church and after the open prayer a lady sitting behind whispered in my ear "you have a big old string in your hair". My boys were teenagers at the time and this of course was a major embarrassment. My husband who loves to make me feel better about who I am said it was just what Ms Thready would wear to church-So thready stuck. Ms Thready is also my alter ego she can say and do things that I would not even attempt.
I have had other nick names, Miss Fin, Raggedy Jannie, Nene, JD and DJ, but I think Thready is the one I like the most.
I actually go by Jan but my real name is Jannene, I like Jan because it is easier to spell for most people.0 -
Cowman..............
Well......at the risk of being kicked outta here I will spill it: I signed on originally for my husband and yes, he raises cattle, the dreaded red meat! Knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't have used that name since it probably is an irritation to some. I won't get into the argument of whether it truly is a cause of colon cancer but I do know alot of people who eat beef regularly and are very healthy. I do plan on varying our diet much more though and I do take in everyone's suggestions for healthy foods.
Maybe we'll sell our cows and start herding chickens!
