Does anyone experience excessive phlegm during treatment week? Also does anyone's lymph nodes in neck area swell during treatment week?

    I thought it was just me.
    I thought it was just me. Yeah, I do have a bit more phlegm during treatment week, but not the lymph node swelling. Are they painful or just swollen? Does your onc know this?

    Oh yea
    Really happens to George. He is on maintenance chemo weekly now. This week I was a little worred it might be lung mets acting up but last week's dr apt was good. Now that I know it happens to others I will relax a bit. I turned up the humidifier on the furnace thinking maybe the air was too dry for him but it was not a dry cough, more like a moist cough like when you have a cold. Tina

    thats how it feels...like a really bad cold. I'v told my oncologist and i was just thinking that my lymph nodes are fighting the chemo drug from destroying good cells. I will have a new oncologist in two weeks so I'm gonna ask him to just do tests that I feel need to be done to insure that my body is still fighting the good fight....

    glad to know that I'm not the only one experiencing the excess phlegm. I try not to worry about every little thing but I am aware of my body. (For example, I've noticed that my stomach is swollen (it could be fat since I haven't excercised in 5 months :) )...

    I'm on my 7th treatment this week with 5 more to go

    Exactly... plus, I have a
    Exactly... plus, I have a constant runny nose now. I blame it on chemo. Heck, I blame everything on chemo. LOL

    Hard not to worry
    It is so hard not to worry about every little thing. Thats why I like to check the boards, you see so much and get a good sense of what is probably normal and what is not. It really takes the anxiety way down. When we go to the doc he asks,"any questions" and George always say no, but that is when I pull my list out. George has the runny nose but not bad, mostly in the am or when coming in from the cold. Take care. Tina

    geotina...its normal to wonder...i have heavier breathing on my treatment weeks and I just picture all my organs working harder to fight for thier health from the chemo drug trying to kill everything off...I'm determined that the chemo drug will not destroy any good organs!!!! I am like a baby asking God to help my body fight the good fight. I can actually feel the fight going on in my body and it wears my body out for three or four days...

    Sure do
    I get mucus mouth and sinus drainage around my disconnect day and it usually last 2-3 days afterwards. Usually eat things like breads, muffins, Ritz crackers, etc. during that time to absorb some of that stuff and take a Benadryl at night so I can dry up and get some sleep. Haven't had the lymph swelling though.

    I always thought my recent phlegm was a result of my COPD,
    in this case, the chronic bronchitis part. Maybe it IS from chemo as I'd been pretty free of excess mucous for awhile....hmmmm......will ask onc this Wed (or mayne call my lung doctor as well).....steve
