Maybe a dumb question...I'm not sure
Can anyone tell me why when I sit down in a chair my left arm & hand has electric shocks running up & down it all the way to my shoulder? This just started happening one week ago and it only happens when I sit down.
I have 2 theories...
1. I must have neuropathy in my butt and it sends signals up my arm or...
2. Something is telling me to get up off of my butt and get busy
Seriously though, I'd appreciate your input. I already have a quadrillion questions for my doctors appt. on Tuesday and maybe this is one I wouldn't have to ask her.
Getting up now out of my desk chair.

I have been on Xeloda for 7 months and I have neuropathy in my legs and if I bend over to pick something up from a standing position (bend at the waist) I get that electric shock feeling in my left arm all the way down to my finger tips have no idea what this is but will ask my ONC tomorrow...0 -
not a dumb ?
Butt neuropathy - That's a new one. When I nod my head, I get the same electrical feeling down my legs and into my feet. I don't know why this happens. I've just become aware of it in the last few weeks. It feels similar to the pain in my back I have had on and off for the last ten years. I'm going to start going to my chiropractor again. Let me know what you dr. says.

I had something similar but it has since gone away when I bent my head down it would send the shock from my neck to my feet.
I had my last tx of 5FU mid Nov of '09 and I am slowly getting back to a normal feelings in my fingers but my feet have a ways to go.0 -
Not a dumb question
I am off of oxi because of allergic reaction and neuropathy. The Dr told me yesterday that the reason it is a bit worse is because the oxi is gone so the nerves are starting to fire back up, this leads to the increase in pain, not hot or cold sensations but pain. I am thinking that have in your hands what others refer to as a sonic boom they get in their feet when they move their head, but you are moving something that is sending it to your hands. Let your Dr know, there is a medication called Neuronton (SP) that helps releave the symptoms, it does not make the neuropathy better but it might help you feel better. I am told this sonic boom thing does clear up.
One other thing, my hands-especially my left hand hurt and my finger nails feel like I have a lot of pressure under them, it really hurts. This is not fun because I am very left handed! We will get better over time it just takes time!
Take care.

Yep, I have the sore nails too. How can something so sore also be numb at the same time? Beats me! My middle finger, left hand has a nail that feels like steel packed into my nail bed. But this is the good thing...and you are SO right...we will get better.

I and a few others apparently want to know what your doc says about the arm thing tomorrow. I'm mostly curious as to what is going on with mine and is there anything I should or shouldn't be doing. After reading these posts I am just giving thanks that I don't have the nodding neck syndrome...yet

Didja' accidentally set the cell phone to vibrate?
I don't do chemo, but had what you're describing, and it
tuned out to be the beginning of carpal tunnel due to my
"new" seating behind the laptop.
If -my- arm continued to vibrate like that, I'd seriously consider
using it ___ __________ _____ !
Just sayin'....

I know what it's from
I think it's old age. Sometimes I will get a pain somewhere for whatever reason and then 20 seconds later it's gone. I told my doctor about it a few years ago and he said "I think we're just getting older". I hope that it for you!
Life is funny sometimes

You men…LMAO…Y’all are a trip.
John, I am still speechless at your suggestion. Ah, I just noticed the edit…LOL
Brooks, you might be right. Not everything is cancer or chemo related. Old age, huh? I’m not quite convinced although I am half a century plus 6. Life IS funny that way.
Kerry you make me laugh. Thank you for your humor.Nothing wrong with 50 yr.old women. Mature & stable. Fortunate for me my husband still thinks I am hot….of course his sight is going fast:)
Laughter is good medicine. Thanks!
