I eat red meat 1 maybe 2 times per MONTH and have been NED since my surgeries 11/2008 colon, and 4/2009 liver. Not too long, but NED
I eat sugar about once a week.
I eat fruits and veggies every day and juice 1 time each day.
Cancer does not run in my family.
Before Cancer and I ate red meat 2-3 a week. Always liked veggies and fruit.

I eat very little red meat
I eat very little red meat. I'll chew on the bone of a steak maybe once or twice a month or have bacon in a salad once a month but that's it. I haven't eaten more than a bite here and there in the past 3 years. I'm not ned but I was twice. I would love to eat lots of fruits and veggies but I have constant bowel problems without adding to with with the ruffage. I'm now trying to stay away from gluten in hopes that maybe that is part of the problem. Jill0 -
How about additional choices?
How many Red meat eaters do we have on this site that have NOT been NED for 5 years or more and eat red meat 3 or more times per week?

I'm just saying! I eat red meat maybe once a month, other meats maybe once a week and I have not been NED in the past 5 1/2 years for more than 8 months at any one time. And the meat thing has been true for my entire adult life, not a vegetarian, and not any political motivation, I just prefer the digestibility and taste of fruits and veges to that of meat.

I am diabetic so I do not eat or drink sugar and I have been diabetic for six years.
I love fruits and vegetables, grew up on a farm so had fresh food (including the meat) almost all the time.
I have a grandmother who will be 105 on the 17th who owned the farm and I think she has eaten fried foods and a lot of red meat in her life time. There's not a thing wrong with her. None of her 12 brothers and sisters died from heart disease or high cholesterol. Most lived into their 90's.
There is no history of cancer on either side of my family or thyroid disease. I had graves disease at the age of 27, I'm now 55. My mother found out she was diabetic at the age of 62.
My cancer is not really colon cancer but mucinous adenocarcinoma or appendiceal cancer. It is just so rare, it is treated like colon cancer.
Oh, yeah, I'm not NED and never will be. My tumors are not operable and I only have chemo to help make them not grow too fast so I can live a little longer.

My grandmothers all lived to be in their 100's my Mom's mom is 99 and my dad's mom and grand mother lived to be 103 and 105. They ate lots of tortillas and carne asada and fried foods. The men did not do so well, they all died in their 50 and 60's. My dad is alive and in his 80's. My family has a history of high cholesterol and triglycerites (sp?). My oldest sibling is 62, we are a family of 9 kids and all here, thank God! My Mom turned 80 this year. My grandmother had 14 kids and most are still here! She did lose three but due to an illness that went around way back in the early 1900's.
I have a allergy to alcohol beverages but ignored it and I had my nightly glass of wine each day, some times two, and would stop drinking it, if I broke out in a rash. Just took a benadryl. I think that my immune system was fighting this alcohol, even if it was only a glass. My husband would tell me, that wine can't be good for your body. Well, I believe he was right. I no longer drink a daily glass of wine, but I have to say that if I go out to dinner a glass of red wine is too good to resist! I KNOW!!! But I hardly go out for dinner!!!!
And my food, well... I eat to live, not live to eat!0
