I've been off chemo 3 weeks in prep for my liver resection. This damn erbatux rash just won't subside. I look like Freedy Kruger- mottled. zitty, red, gross...I'm surprised it hasn't subsided like it has in the past when I've had chemo breaks.

Any words of wisdom?

Peggy

    taking anything for it?
    Hi Peggy,

What a drag! Are you taking any oral antibiotic or using anything topical for it? Maybe it's taking longer to go away this time just because you've had a lot of it & it's had a buildup in your system. Maybe it's just taking longer for all that buildup inside to escape through your pores. Back when I took Erbitux (before I stopped due to finding I was kras mutant), my facial acne rash went away within a couple of weeks- the acne part, that is. I actually still have kind of mottled red blotches from it & I have to put foundation makeup on every day even though I stopped Erbitux a year and a half ago. I actually noticed some improvement finally just in the last month since using skin bleach creams and facial scrubs on the areas with the splotches. I hope this won't be the case with you- I just bet it's taking longer because of how much of it you've had. Definitely ask to be put on minocycline or some kind of skin antibiotic to help clear it up.

Good luck with that and your upcoming surgery. Please keep us posted on that!

    Hi Peggy
I am a bit surprised that it didn't lessen. I believe Lisa asked this too but are you taking any anti-biotics for it? I've been on minocyclin and it really helped to keep it at a minimum. I would find that it was worse when it was warmer out too. Also, it isn't the end all but usually when you have the rash it often means that the Erbitux is effective.

When mine got or gets bad, I was just thankful that I didn't have to look at it, others did but not me. When is your resection?

    PS: don't do anything rash!
