CEA going the wrong direction

First CEA was 28, next was 150 and now 301! I'm currently on Erbitux and irinotecan. Is this chemo a fertilizer? I'm going for a Pet Scan ASAP this coming week.

feeling nervous,
Ida

Glad you are going for Pet scan Ida. Hope it's just the cancer cells dying off from the chemo, but that is a big jump. Maybe they will have to change your chemo. Wishing the best for you.

    Ida,

CEA changes can certainly wreak havoc with one's mental outlook. I know changes in my own can lead to great feelings of apprehension and fear. The only thing I can do is distract myself and wait for the scans. The CEA is only a tool but it is not 100% accurate and the scan is what will give you the picture of what is going on. So good for you that you are having a scan so quickly...your doctor is on the ball and monitoring you very closely. That is a great thing.

In the meantime cuddle that adorable cat in your picture (we have 3 Oriental Shorthairs so know the breed quite well) and try to relax.

I will keep you in my thoughts this week.

    All the best,
    Amy

    Praying for the best
I'd be nervous, too, dear. I'm glad you're getting checked soon, so you can know exactly what is going on. I'll be praying for great results.

    *hugs*

As I'm sure you've read on here, the CEA isn't the most accurate marker.
I've been on erbitux and irinotecan for a long while with good results.

It's not always easy but try to think of other things and stay occupied until your scan.

    Hi Ida

Big jump in CEA alright...definitely worth checking into. Levels could be rising from dying cancer cells...with that high a jump, it makes you wonder for sure...let's hope this is what it is...monitoring is a good thing...positive thoughts on your results.
