Hello My Sisters,

I had my 3rd infusion of carbo/taxol on Monday. I'm having such a hard time with each round. I've been through this before almost 4 years ago and I seriously don't remember it being quite this tough to endure. I am overwhelmed and I don't understand why after all the surgeries and previous chemo why my positivity and sense of humor would desert me and leave me feeling so depressed ...
do you think that this is another physical side effect like the aches and pains, nausea and extreme fatique? (((HUGS))) Maria

    I think it's probably a combination of things, Maria. Getting the news that you have to go back into treatment must be a huge downer. We all have such high hopes after the initial chemo therapy. And the physical side effects may be worse this round, but who knows? I never had two identical post-treatment experiences. Some were followed by nausea (never really bad, thank goodness), one by flu-like aches and pains, they all left me tired, but to various degrees. Chemo, for me, was a crap shoot...I never knew what to expect.

    The after effects may get better as the treatment progresses. Are your blood counts good? Low hemoglobin will make you very fatigued.

    Ask your doctor for meds to treat the other issues. I take Zofran as soon as I get home, nauseated or not, then four hours later, I take Compozene, and just before bed, another Zofran. I have suffered very little from nausea with the carbo/taxol cocktail.

    I think with the first rounds of treatment I was filled with such hope. I actually looked forward to starting chemo. I really wanted to knock this cancer out. After having a reoccurence it IS depressing. Hang in there Maria. How many infusions do you have left? After my second dose of Doxil I was very depressed and crying all the time. Then it just went away. I still get sad of course but its more manageable. At one point or another we all walk down a similar path. Be strong!! Have hope!!

    I'm feeling better tonight after melting down earlier. Thanks for the kind words and I have 5 infusions left to go. I got a call from my 4 year old grand-daughter tonight and that reminded me what I'm fighting for. (((HUGS))) Maria

    There are times when you think "Oh no not again", But we start and we endure because we are teal warriors. Last summer I had to go on Doxil it was my fourth round of chemo since 2006 when I was dx. I have been lucky to have 3 to 4 months rest in betw areeen. Anyway, I had side effects with Doxil and got depressed, really summer time can't go anyplace or do anything and sick on top of it. Well my Onc increased my Prozac, which I have been on since before my dx, and it helped. I made it through and I will make it through all the other chemos that come along. Now I am on Topotecan start next week for my 3rd round. But this cancer is not going to get me down. It is so wonderful; how the Grand children lift our sprits. My youngest, which is 6 had to write a paper of the things he loved most, he included me along with his cats and his cars. And this is the reason that we are fighting so hard
