Cancer of small intestine

Cannot find anyone in the UK who has this type of cancer, sometimes called small bowel or cancer of duodenum, can anyone help, my brother has this type of cancer .

    Could it be colorectal cancer?? or carcinoid cancer??? Look under colorectal cancers on this site. I hope this helps!

    My husband has this cancer. Very hard to find any info on the web. I just kept serching and serching finally found a little article. rosier

    Please can someone help me. I found out today that my Gran has cancer of the intestine, I will find out more of her condition tonight as i am in South Africa and she is in Romania. To be quite honest I see her more as my mom then my gran, she raised my brother & I and cant see my life with out her. Please can someone let me know more about this kind of cancer. I'm not sure if it's malignant or not and what stage it's at.

    I would apriciate any advice anyone can give me on this.

    Hello egina,
    im sorry to hear about your gran , you need to find all you can abiut the cacner it is most prob large intestine or they also call it colon in us bowel in Aus .
    If it is the large intestine then there is an entire sectionin the disc board called colorectal cancer that has loads of positive survivors

    hi im bekki, i live just outside london and i had pnet of the duodenum, i to have searched for someone who knows what i had, went through. i was 21 when i was diagnosed that was 5 years ago now...i found it so hard going through the chemo raising two small children ect...all i want is to know more about what i had and why i had it.

    I'm recovering from small bowel cancer and have found very little information online. I noticed these posts from 2004. I'd like to hear from anyone who has or had small bowel cancer.

    Hi 2ndtimer. My husband has the same cancer stage 4. I too am having a difficult time comparing notes w/ others, finding info resources. I would love to share stories and possibly learn more about what is ahead for us. Please contact me if you are interested.

    Hi. My husband was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the small intestine. he underwent a whipple procedure. He also went through 6 months of chemotherapy. His chemo ended in december of 2006. Over a 1 and a half years later and regular ct scans alternating with x-rays, all tests have been coming up clear. It was a rough road, but his quality of life is very good. he just turned 40. He had colon cancer almost 5 years prior to us finding his small intestinal cancer, due to blockage and jaundice, which saved him in essence. he also went through genetic counselling and has the MSH2 gene, that is responsible for these cancers. His grandfather passed away in his early 30's. His mother and sister also have been tested and have the gene. His other brother does not. Simca.

    what was the whipple procedure? resection?? removal of part of small intestine?

    My dad just had the "BLOCKAGE REMOVED"....that in essence saved him as well. It was stage 4 adeno of small intestine

    Hi

    I live in UK. My partner was diagnosed with duodenal adenocarcinoma with inoperable tumour (over 10cm). The cancer is stage IV because of the size and distant lymph nodes involved. He had a bypass done and is waiting for chemotherapy. I am not very convinced about chemo... I am devastated and loosing my power to do anything. He is in pain one day and the next one is better. And I am feeling exactly the same what he is feeling... Can anybody tell me how bad or full of side effects chemo was for you or your relatives? I really need as much information as possible to cope and help him. He is all my life, I have nobody else...

    Doudenal cancer
    I'm having my second round of chemo right now. Last time was 3and a half weeks ago. I did not have nausia at all. I was very tired for about 4days and very sensitive to cold. Be sure your partner gets an anti-nausea drug infused before the chemo and has time to rest. My first round was just 6 weeks after my whipple (removal of about 8 inches of the small intestine) so Im curious to see if this is better or worse.

    My Mum was diagnosed with duodenal cancer in Feb 2010, underwent a whipple in March 2010 and has just had her 3rd cycle of FOLFOX chemo, and is doing pretty good so far. She goes in once a fortnight for 3 hours, and then brings one drug home with her in a bottle connected to her picc line for two days, then goes back in and has it disconnected. She is very sensitive to the cold the two days following, and a little off her food. Then she has a couple of bad days on the 3rd and 4th day. Just really tired, a bit of it, slightly nauseas and no appetite. But then she comes pretty good, and has a good week before she goes back in again.

    They are calling her chemo "insurance" treatment, as they cannot find anymore cancer on scans, or throughout the surgery, however since they found a tiny spot (4mm) on her liver, combined the rareity of the cancer, and therefore the lack of solid research, mum decided to do it anyway. Mum waited 7 weeks before starting chemo, althugh because of her difficulty putting on weight (Mum was only 48 kgs when she first saw the dr, and got down to 43) she ended up having a month in hospital, and then built up some strength to be able to handle the chemo.

    I'd be really interested to see how everyone is going now?

    Thank you for any replies. My fiance is having his 6 chemo o EOX regimen. It is pailative one but we are hoping it is still working and shrinking lymph nodes and the tumour. We should know CTscan results tomorrow I hope they will be good... If you are looking for any information about small intestine cancer or duodenal cancer go to duodenal cancer yahoo group. This is a great source of information about this such a rare cancer.
    I hope you are all doing well. My partner did not have a Whipple but we are hoping that chemo will help enough to become operable...

    I hope your dad is doing well with his treatments. I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the small intestine (located in the jejeunum) in August 2009 at age 35. I had an emergency small bowel resection surgery where the doctor removed the tumor and about 7 inches of my small intestines. In October 2009 I started FOLFOX chemotherapy and finished this past March. So far the blood tests and CT scan are showing everything is clear. Unfortunately, I developed peripheral neuropathy because of the chemo.

    Small bowel cancer
    I was diagnosed with small bowel cancer in 2009, did folfiri treatment for six months then matastis to omentum in 2011 with folfox treatment.

    How is your peripheral neuropathy? I currently am on 2700 of neuronton per day for neuropathy.

    I was diagnosed with small bowel cancer in 2009 and then it spread to the omentum in 2011.

    Hello my name is Casey I have small intestine cancer I have had this for a year now and am on chemo. I had to give up my whole life because of this cancer and move out of state. they said that it won't gte any better I am 49 years old female. I have a hard time no one to talk to about it.
