DeQuervains Tenosynovitis
Sorry to vent, but this is just one more thing I have to deal with. And I'm tired of being cheerful and care free in front of my family.
Thanks for listening.

My sympathies!
Vent, rant, rave. You have every right. Cry, too. It helps. I'm so sorry for your 'extra helping' of hurt and frustration. And, certainly expense. It's not the bc side wrist, is it? I have bursitis in my shoulder, and because of lymphadema, was advised to not have a shot. So, maybe seeing a specialist isn't such a bad idea.
Also, I've learned from my experience that being little miss sunshine for my family (at every moment) backfires. It does help to take worry from them, but at what cost to you? You need their support and understanding that this is a moment by moment for us and not every moment is all sunshine and roses.
Take care of yourself, keep us posted and remember, we are all here for you.
Hugs and prayers,

Oh goodness
Pat, I'm sorry to hear about this latest news. It sounds like a painful condition and an inconvienient one, too. I can see why you would wonder "what's next?" after all you have gone through. What is your treatment plan for your wrist? Is it the injections, medication, or a combination? I read online that with treatment, symptoms can begin to ease in 4 to 6 weeks. I hope you can find relief for your condition and that only good times are next on your list.

so sorry Pat
I also had the DeQuervains... my GP cannot do cortisone shots, so yes, they have to refer you to an Orthopedic doc. I actually bought the brace online, got the smallest one I could for ease of movement, cost $30.00. Had two cortisone shots, the second one worked and I haven't had a problem since. That was almost a year ago. So hang in there, and hopefully, this too shall pass.
Take care

Thanks!
I have an appointment with an orthopedist on Monday. They are so busy, I'm double booked into a 1:30 slot. So much for star treatment there - ha ha. I'm fighting with the insurance company over the cost of the brace, the insurance company told me I should have called them from the store and they would refer me to a store they cover. How are we supposed to know that? Then the insurance won't cover me for my pre-op for the biopsy of the second lump. So I have to write the insurance a letter including the bill, and let the hospital know that I'm disputing the bill. The woman who took my insurance card at the pre-op should know if its covered or not, or at least when she puts it in the computer, it should come back denied. but no, I'm left with the bill and the non-payment calls. It will be fun to let the hospital know, they don't even do the billing. It comes from New York. What a pain!!!!
Anyways, I will see what the "specialist" says about the wrist. The brace is awful, I have to take it off to do everything from typing, eating, getting dressed/undressed, dishes, cooking - its off more than its on! I wear it to bed, where the cat chews on it all night.
Thanks for listening to my ranting. I'll get over this soon - I can't stay in a bad mood forever (can I?)

Pat, rant away!! It's better to rant and rave and get it out of your system than to hold it in. So.........rant and rave. That kind of sounds like a dance, doesn't it?? Soon, this will all be settled and you'll be on your way to better days. Sending you strength to fight the insurance company. Let us know how it goes. Take care.0 -
